last gen CTS-V: LS2 engine from corvette. good car, but nothing particularly competitive.

new CTS-V: 6.2L SC V8, trashes everything from BMW/Audi/Merc in the super sedan segment.

good enough?

If that satisfies you then fine.
I'd still buy the MB/Audi/BMW if I was in the market.
It is still a Caddy and its resale value will fall like a rock. Someone in this thread posted that there is already special financing and a rebate. WTH?

if you could afford a 60k car, why would you be worried about resale?

I'm hearing about mercedes, lexus, and bmw incentives all the time. They're all suffering. I'd take the caddy by a long shot. Some people don't like how it looks but I think it looks great. Caddy is finally making a top notch world class sedan.

With a normal car I'd wait to get it used but with this kind of car there's the chance that somebody has ragged the crap out of it for two years. It may be in one piece when you get it but that won't keep it together for long. I'd prefer to know exactly what's been done to a performance vehicle.

I'll be interested in the reliability/durability of this. Its rivals like the M5 are crazy fragile.

I get the feeling that a big American V8 will be a bit more reliable than a high tech German sedan.

Unrelated bias confirmed.

Come back when you have a relevant discussion that pertains to the CTS-V.

I don't think it is entirely ugly, just the profile, the grill looks very nice, but I think the slant kinda kills it.

Looks pretty good and dam good for the £££! I wonder what the £££ will be in the uk?

Koing

I can't speak for the current V10 version, but as a previous owner of an E39 M5, it took quite a thrashing without complaint 🙂

Can it go around corners?

American GM cars are not known for decent handling. They generally have soft suspension for increased comfort.

let's see - it beats the M3, M5, C63 AMG, RS4, S5, R8, and numerous other vehicles on the nurburgring.

Last I checked the Nurburing has curves in it. The sub 8 minute ring times suggests it can deal with turns just fine.
