Mine is an OCZ Vertex2 - you can download a toolbox that has secure erase...

I can't do it from the same drive the toolbox is on can I?

Actually, I think you need to make a boot disk/flash drive with the utility on that program, or perhaps it is a different file.
It has been too long since I used OCZ's software, but from what I remember of it, it wasn't that hard to figure out what to do.
You go to the secure erase section, then hit it, and see what it says.
(remember, this will kill ALL your data off the SSD!)

to secure erase the ssd will need to be connected as a data (or non boot) drive. at least with the ssds I have.

When I reinstalled windows on the SSD drive I just had the windows disk format the drive (I had to or it would not let me install there)...

I've run malawarebytes like 10x and it finds no virus or malware...

Running AVAST now too, seems pretty tight...

Formatted my D: drive as well...

All seems ok...

Have system restore running now too...

In future I strongly suggest you do regular backups. (sorry for stating what should be obvious) Remember the old IT saying: "if data doesn't exist in 3 seperate places it doesn't exist at all".

In addition start using a program called Sandboxie when surfing the web. I've encountered Crypto-locker on personal PC's several times and lost zero data ... Sandboxie stopped it in its tracks before it touched the HD. I just closed the sandbox, deleted its contents and continued on as if nothing happened.

Also worth noting that even though it never made it beyond the sandbox to the best of my knowledge, my much-maligned Norton AV detected it instantly. Make sure you keep your AV up to date.
