"CSEL" ??

What exactly does CSEL stand for? I see it as one of the jumper choices (besides Master and Slave) on the back of my new burner and there is hardly any information on it. How do I know when to use this jumper position? Thanks

CSEL = Controller Select

The ribbon has two spots on it, near and far. The controller requires devices to be either MASTER or SLAVE. The CSEL allows a device to defer the MASTER selection if another device is either set to MASTER, or is set to the near spot on the ribbon and also uses CSEL.

I thought it was Cable Select, but that is what it's used for. I've never seen it used, personally.

All the manuals I've read referred to it as 'cable select'.

Folks, once again a reminder, the controller is in the drive - the Master drive. The Slave drive does not enable its controller and instead has itself controlled by the Master.

Now you can choose M and S by jumper, or set to Cable Select and have M and S decided by the position on the cable. The latter is recommended for the newer 80-wire cables - that way you can't make any configuration mistakes.
