Well, my name isn't people, lol. So it's safe to use my name since I was the only one to mention it. Screen shots always look degraded from the real experience or the real game presentations but there are some serious noticeable differences comparing the HL2 screens and CS Source screens.

Like this screen

Other than the blue skies, there is nothing in that image that shows the slightest bit of personality. Where is the blending of colors or textures? I see flat walls with brick lines in them and without the black lines on the walls there is no way to tell if it was a solid wall or stone stacked wall. Compare CS Source walls to far crys: http://image.com.com/gamespot/...20040323_screen071.jpg And the barrels flying up in the air could disapper in the awful color contrasts of the background. Dark brown single color barrels with no shading or lighting effects flying up in the air, hm, great.

How about the ground and terrain? Compare the darker brown color terrain to the light green terrain. The edges of the brown terrain almost make it look more like a laid out carpet or even a artifact generated from an over heated GPU. (Like this screen) Really, what is that suppose to be on the lower right? Is that gravel, stone, or grass?

Then you have the mountains in the background. I traveled the united states near and far and never saw mountains as pointy and triangulated as those. They almost resemble Final Doom's pre rendered back drops.

No wonder why people can play this game at 200 FPS, there is nothing for the video card to render but muzzle flashes and explosions.

Sprays are still in, the sprays are higher resolution & more clear now. In the pubs I've been playing in a lot of people had pornographic sprays, no surprise.

yea, the pornographics sprays are pissing me off. anyways, i have the game myself and i love it. i run at 1280x1024, 32-bit color, all details high except shadow and water (which at set to lowest), no AAxAF. i get between 40-70. however, when i play on big servers (30+), my frames drop to 25-35. btw, the radeon in my sig is overclocked to 460/780.

edit: after watching the video, i personally think next time, do 2 minute action-packed higher-quality video. just my opinion.

That's true. But CS:S isn't supposed to have ground breaking graphics. It's supposed to be a sequal to one of the best, most popular online FPS games of all time. I'd say it accomplishes that pretty well after playing the beta.

Can someone put up a side by side comparison of the original CS and CS: Source? I just want to see the difference :).
