Today I started CS:S and looked at my video settings to muck around with some stuff. I noticed something odd. My reccomended detail settings (the asterisk'ed * ones) were now lowered to, well, lower settings.
CS:S used to reccomend 4x Antialiasing, 8x Anisotropic. It's now 2x Antialiasing, and 4x Anisotropic. I haven't changed anything about my hardware or drivers. Steam did run a small update.
Furthermore, I score lower on the FPS stress test than I used to. I used to get 143-153 FPS, now I get 130-136.
I was just curious if this has happened to anyone else. Also, what would explain this event?
Edit: Wow, looks like things are even stupider than I thought. When I try to put my settings back to what it used to reccomend, it looks like this:

Here's what it looked like yesterday on the exact same detail settings, but without the "Magic" that occurred.

Exact. Same. Settings. Just now, I'm literally not allowed to do them unless I want super PURPLESQUARES vision.
