CS:S BSOD

Since I got my 6800GT Ive had some gaming issues, during map switches and sometimes gameplay I get BSOD and it reboots. Also after dieing in the game the screen gets wacky at times. Ive switched drivers about 5x and still the same problem. Benchmarking the card works good, but if Im going to keep having issues like this its getting RMAed. Any ideas?

It could be overheating, or not getting enough power. I have an OC'd x800, with a zalman cooler, and it passed all the benchmarks ok, without any artifacts, and the temps were good, but I'd get vpu recovery errors in CS:S. I backed down the OC a bit, and everything is fine now.

Well I get the issues when running at stock, My temps never hit 65c and are usually idling under 50c so I figure its not that. As far as the power I know mine isnt that good but its 12v/25a and I have a 2nd psu powering all my fans. So Im really at a loss here, Im going to replace the power supply in the next week or 2 and if its not that Ill RMA and see if its the card itself I guess..

is it a graphics card specific error? because it may be your OS is messing up somewhere

Yeah, I'd run some tests like memtest and prime95 to see if it could be some other component messing up. Also, run rthdribl, and see if it shows up any artifacts, it's a good test program for your gfx card.

The BSOD flashes really fast but its a nv***.dll error it flashes fast so I havent gotten exactly what it was. I think NV4_disp although Im not sure. thats what gave me the idea of the vid card.

Probably a power issue. Verify that all the cables are secured in your system, look at system voltages and try again. If not try replacing the PS.

it may be a power issue,bad ram or overheating.N it may also happen that u resolved all these problems n still get the BSOD. this is a problem thats bugging many people(including me)n its more like a nvidia problem(some ati cards also have this though).u may google n find many forums about this BSOD.BTW wat drivers r u using? I have seen in some forums the 77.77 drivers resolve this but not sure myself.

I think it's your OC. Take it down a little, I was having the same type of problems (BSOD, freezing, random restarts) in BF2, but after lowing the OC a little the problems went away.

Im currently on the 71.89 drivers, tried all the newest and had the same problem. Im gonna do some more stablility testing to make sure my system is stable. And go from there I guess. Part of it I think is CSS being finicky, havent had the issue with anything else.
