CS resolution screwd up

Hey guys...im a long time reader here but 1st post. I formated my comp today and now when i start up CS it doesnt take up the whole screen. There still like an inch of blk on the left and right side of my screen. I installed 5.6cat. drive. Thought it was a cat. problem so i uninstalled and put in 5.5. Still no luck. Before the format i was using 4.12. So again i uninstalled 5.5 and put in 4.12 w/ no luck again. Tried using my monitor to stretch it out to make it full screen too but its at 100% already, cant stretch it any further. My CS resolution is at 1280x960. It wasnt like this before the format too. I have 9700pro w/ the Mitsubishi DP930 monitor. Im at 85hz too.

Strange, i always thought CS defaulted to 60 Hz.

before the format my monitor was at 85hz so...it should work.

this may seem dumb, but have you tried adjusting the geometry of your crt?
