CS:GO and hacking

FYI Valve just released a huge stealth VAC update. A ton of bans went out, and I've yet to see anyone with a noticeable hack since.

The actual population since mid December is slowly decreasing. 1.5 million unique players a month is totally reasonable considering that an account costs 3$ and you can make 10$ buying one account and playing for a week or two(while hacking), earning crates, and playing while hacking. Bottom line: it's profitable to hack this game because of the steam marketplace and thus "unique" accounts will be made until this stops. All this is reasoning why I've hung my AK up for a bit 🙂

pardon the obvious, why would anyone spend money to do this?

It's actually really efficient to buy another CS:GO account for that cheap just to sell the crates. Winter crates last I checked go for 2$ish and I've gotten atleast 2-3 this week alone. Newer accounts have a higher chance at dropping items, and even higher when you're going through games hacking and winning easily.

To get the money off the hacked accounts items, the player just trades all the items earned to his main account. I've so far just in crates/item drops in 2 weeks made 10$; easily enough to buy another account.

Saw a few hackers this morning at 7AM PST; one got kicked by the antihack from a third party server addon. They were 3 hour old accounts, so maybe they'll be banned fast but I'm a bit hesitant on that. We'll see.

That seems like a pretty terrible ROI

The money you earn from the items goes directly into your steam account; you can spend it on anything in the steam store without using a credit card. Hacks are free; at 3.50$ an account and 2$ a crate, getting banned is trivial. 12$ was 3 accounts a week ago. So for 12$ of accounts and new steam accounts, they have a chance at..............we'll go with 2 crates a week (lowball) x 3 accounts, that's 6$ on the first week minimum. I doubt anyone gets just two crates a week though; I've been pulling in what seems to be 2 items per 2 hour sessions, daily. Add in people buying keys and maybe getting lucky on the initial drops or opening crates. Winning something worth a damn is 20$+.....CS:GO is pretty lucrative if you believe in luck and patience.

The main issue though is them dropping the price so low. Valve either needs to start banning by credit card or some other system to stop people or else low-priced/F2P FPS games will just start to become pointless.....look at planetside 2. Every Saturday it's like hacker heaven.

2 items per 2 hour session = $6 for 2 hours = $3 hour

Sounds like piss poor ROI to me! What am I missing here? People who can't get jobs or 3rd would country players, where $3/hour is actually pretty good?

Exactly. Kids, people who can't see a job makes more money, people playing the game because there's a sliver of a chance to get paid playing a game, you name it. I'm not disagreeing it's terrible ROI but it IS ROI on a video game aside from entertainment. Thinking back to my younger days, I probably would have done this 24/7 while I was in high school. I know a friend whose made 100$ so far off of marketplace selling.

Competition in fps games attract a specific personality type. It's not the combat mechanics, point system or, ranking. If there is a way to make someone else's experience in the game suck, a large number of players will dedicate their every waking moment to do just that. It's the nature of fps.

Fixed that for you. 😛 People tend to be dicks, especially in an online anonymous environment.

The VAC system is random. I know that usually they delay and ban in waves so that people can't just log in to test if a hack is detected.

I just hope they continue to update VACs. I really don't care about those obvious hackers; overwatch can sort them out in no time. What I do care about are the people who have those subtle hacks that a lot of people might not spot on overwatch. Aim-assist, no-spread, wall toggle, ect. Reading all the threads on cs:go forums about all the people complaining about how they thought their hacks were undetectable, or their brother logged on and installed hacks while they were grocery shopping, brought me so much joy.
