Indeed I'd like that as well.
I'd like to see many games out there being re-made with CryEngine 3. I still remember when some guy made the Cyrodiil map from Oblivion (or perhaps it was part of Cyrodiil anyway) and also recreated the imperial city under the original CryEngine (from Crysis 1) and I couldn't believe at how smooth and seamless it was when the camera was moving around the city (no loading screens of separate environmental "cells" as it is in the GameBryo version that we all know of), not to mention that some of the city's architecture seemed to have a significantly higher polygon count as well (columns, archways and such).
There were no NPCs around, just a "test" of re-making the map(s) basically and it worked (not sure if the creator(s) ever intended to re-make the whole thing in some unvelievably difficult project but at the time it was impressive nonetheless even if they did that for the heck of it just to see if it could be done properly, and heck yeah it was possible). The original FarCry was great and I'm pretty sure that lots of people whom never played it to this day would like it if it was remade under a more recent engine, be it CryEngine 3 or Duna (FarCry 2 and 3) or maybe even UE3 or the upcoming UE4.
I mean, sure, some games out there truly are timeless gems that really don't need any sort of "retake" or remakes under newer engines (especially if it would mean transitioning from 2D to 3D), but some others I think would benefit from that, when otherwise they're almost dead and never really made it into the "transcending gaming generations and aged well" bandwagon. At its time FarCry was very popular and to some even to this day it's still great, but I myself tried to re-play it about a year ago and frankly it "lost its touch" mostly due to the visuals on the characters and the somewhat awkward animations (and some other elements here and there that I just couldn't recall being that "cheesy").
And, ultimately, I'm still waiting for my
real CryEngine 3-powered Turok reboot (that's of course completely subjective and self-satisfying but just imagine such a game in the veins of Dinosaur Hunter mixed in with the best elements of Seeds of Evil and even Shadow of Oblivion with CryEngine 3's capabilities). But I guess that's because I'm a fan of Turok (the old games that is, and don't get me started on that 2008 "reboot" travesty). Ah... and, another game I'd like to see under CryEngine is Fallout 3 (specifically Fallout 3, or Vegas, because I think the original and Fallout 2 are alright where they are and shouldn't be touched).
