Okay, I want to put a crystalfontz LCD on my computer. I am planning on mounting it on the top "ceiling" of my case. The site there is really confusing, so is it possible to get a graphic LCD to connect to your USB port + be able to program it? If someone were to get a serial lcd mounted internally, wouldn't that mean you would have to have a wire coming out of your case connecting to the COM ports on the back? Are there any other companies that make graphic LCD's that are easy to program?

CF makes software to run the LCDs that you can download off of there site. Additionally, there are some other people that make software that supports CF's LCDs. (try searching "LCDdriver" by "Uler" (Uller, maybe) on google.

If you mount it internall, you can easily make a small hole to send the wire out and around to the com port, but yes, it will have to loop to the outside to hook up, unless you are very good with electronics and can splice the ends of the wires directly to the PCB on the motherboard internally.

What I did for mine was made a vertical cut about 1/2 inch long, about 1/8 inch wide below my PSU, when I had my PSU removed, I could take the end of the com cable through the PSU opening, and put the wire in the cut and connect it, then replace my PSU.

Some people feel the need to cut then splice the cable to get it through a small drilled out hole or PCI slot, but it really isn't necessary.
