so you mean up until you find your teammate dangling from the trees, all ripped to shreds? sounds about right.

For all that's complaining about damage model try playing it in Delta difficulty. No more than 3 shots with a rifle or 1 shot of the shotgun will take any of the korean soldiers down.

Other than the foliage, I was personally much more blown away by the graphics and effects in COD4 than I was in Crysis. I know they're pretty different games, but for me the gameplay in COD4 was lightyears better also.

Making my way thru Crysis almost felt like a job, and I already have one of those, thanks.

The story, dialog and voice acting are absolutely terrible.,

Gameplay was better than I thought it would be. I had really low expectation though from reading what other people thought.

Crysis was merely "OK". I regret paying for it, and if I could, I'd go back and tell myself to skip it and just look at other people's pretty screenshots.

After playing competitive multiplayer FPS for years, I can't force myself to play single player. Killing bots and following some contrived storyline just doesn't do it for me.

I can't force myself to play multiplayer. Deathmatch is boring. CTF is midly interesting, as there is a point to it, but otherwise still boring.

Single player games with storylines are where it's at. Games are visual interactive novels for me.

Not much depth
Simple Halo 2 mimic gun play
Rubber bean bag bullets
Big world...so big they forgot to pay attention to details
Made my video card over heat and my game artifact...permanently
Vehicles were more props than of actual use

Killing was just...not...fun. Felt no point in killing either. Why have guns at all? The only way to survive was to run like hell and hope the suite doesn't run out of energy.

if you played on delta, sure at times, but otherwise staying alive is generally not a problem, especially since your suit recharges.

"regs: Why have guns at all"
uh??? i guess this game just isn't for you.

I loved it, have played through it several times, and am playing through it again with my new 4850. It's best on the hardest difficulty setting.

The open ended jungle missions were amazingly awesome - atmospehere, weapon behavior, damage models - all top notch and played well on the 8800 GTS 320MB (the rig in my signature).

The game goes downhill for me when you get to the alien ship. Even that ship gets boring, although its cool the first few minutes in that environment.

Definitely pick the hardest difficulty setting, and pick your battles. Most enemies in the game wear at least body armor, so they are naturally damage resistant if you don't hit the head. CoD4 wasn't much different.

Low damage? Some tips:

1: It's important to remember to have 2 different weapons setup - use one with suppression for sniping (single shot / 2 shot bursts max). Suppressed deal much less damage in the game, but also are harder to spot. Fairly realistic. Keep one weapon unsuppressed, for Assaults, or just remove the silencer before big fights.

2: The shotgun is a joke - at the distance it becomes effective, it's much easier to just headshot. If you need to use it, make sure you select the narrow burst mode.

3. Pistols, without silencers, are amazing. Put the laser pointers on, and use them for close combat situations.

4. Later in the game you get two weapons that deal significantly more damage.
- The Rail Gun can head shot frag a PowerSuit, or kill a small alien. 2-3 shots can drop the giant flying aliens. It's very useful, and you get reloads in the toughest sequences.
- When you leave the alien ship and end up in the ice sequence - equip the Incenerating bullets vs the small Aliens - they seem to deal much more damage to them.

5. Some of the Alien sequences have constant respawn, unless you push forward and take the next objective. Learn to recognize them, so you save ammo. :)

Crysis should have been called "3dmark", but that name was already taken.

Loved Crysis, don't expect everyone else to though and that is fine with me.

Hmmm Crysis

other than being very pretty too look at it,it was a good game, but had its flaws
-the AI...horrible,they run into the open literally the time.they seemed to stand and shoot and not move around at all
-bullet power...took literally a clip to kill a guy, if it wasnt a headshot
-energy...not enough heh, i guess thats not a flaw, but wanted more sprint heh
-repetition...killing the same Kpa solders over and over again, hearing the same voice overs, over and over again

i cant think of anymore, because ive been playin COD4 lately

I'm trying to play it on the 4850 I just bought, but something must be wrong with my system, as I still only get 25fps on high settings, 1680x1050, 2AA and 64-bit winXP. It's making it pretty unenjoyable at the moment, as it lags bad anytime there a firefight or lots of explosions. I had the same problems with FarCry, and just shelved it for about a year and a half until I had better hardware.

I just started playing this game last night. My impressions are very good so far. The story seems a bit contrived but the gameplay is great and has more depth to it than a typical FPS. It feels similar to Far Cry, which is a very good thing in my book.

I have been playing at 1280x960 with 2xAA and the Triple C mod on high settings (with depth of field and one or two other things turned on), which seems to be the best compromise between graphics and performance. I get a pretty consistent 45-60fps on a 670mhz GTX 280. The framerate hit was too high for my liking on higher resolutions or the very high settings. The game generally looks amazing, better than in most screenshots I've seen people post here, but there are some things that seem strangely out of place like the textures on the cliffs. The lighting effects also seem to look better in the night time or with a low sun than in broad daylight.

I had the same problems with FarCry, and just shelved it for about a year and a half until I had better hardware.

Far Cry is still a little heavy on modern hardware, especially if you use its HDR mode together with AA. I loaded it up a few days ago and found that it got choppy in some spots at 2048x1536. It's generally very smooth at 1600x1200, in the 50-80fps range, but it can still drop into the low 30s in a few places on the most intense maps (the River one in particular). Of course, it also looks way ahead of its time, more like a 2006 or 2007 game than a 2004 one.

Definately a lot of controversy and strong opinions surrounding it.

I dig it. I think it's quite fun to play. Goes downhill at the end (alien crap).

Atmosphere is great, story line is nice, My hardware is up to the task and it looks beautiful. The "handling" feel of the 3d engine is on par with stuff from id software (UT handles like butt to me.)

Once you get the hang of the suit you start to feel like the Predator hunting those poor squads of troops.

Nothing. I did a fresh install of xp64 just to play Crysis, I use vista for everything else.

I really enjoyed it, but like others I could've done without the space ship part. I'm really enjoying it a lot more with a GTX 280, although I think it may be one more generation of GPU + Nehalem to really run it well.
