will Crysis be able to run AMD X2 4800+ cpu? I looked at the requirement it has to be 3.0Ghz or more.

It will run at what ever graphics combo you feel is good.

I have Opteron 146. What does that tell you?

It should tell you I can't play it at high, but can put some things on medium at 1280x800 or low at 1680x1050.

I can live with the 1280. I can't afford any upgrades.

Umm... I think the 3.0Ghz means the equivalent of a 3000+ no? Your 4800+ should be fine.

Ignore processor speed for multi-core.

Yes it will.

My 4400+ runs at 2.4Ghz (from 2.2Ghz stock), which pretty much makes it a 4800+, and it runs Crysis fine. Well it ran it fine I should say because right now I'm using another system (E6600 + DDR2 RAM).

And Crysis is more graphics card dependent than processor dependent.

Rig in sig, I run it in medium settings. Your video card is probably more of a factor in performance. FWIW I believe Crysis is made to take advantage of multiple cores.

Recent Tri-SLI or OC'ing guide on AT showed Crysis scales well with even the fastest Quad core CPUs, like 3.2 to 3.6 on a C2Q I believe resulted in a nice performance boost. Crypig is just one hell of a resource hog (and runs like it).

That is good to know...how does it run with ATI X1950 Pro card? high medium or low setting?

I have an X1900XT which is somewhat similar, and I can't run it above Medium. Also CKent said Medium with an X1950XT, which is a little better than a Pro, also.

Runs just under Medium on my single-core 3200+ so you'll be fine, especially with your X1950 (I got a 7600gt). Oh... should add that you'll be fine up until there's snow. You'll know it when you see it.

The apostrophes in your sig are used incorrectly.

in before someone flames you for being a worthless grammar nazi.

FWIW, I have trouble finding reasons not to hate stupid people.

I use it as a good time to exercise patience, and get over my desire/need to point out the flaws in others.

I have a Q6600 and 8800GT both running stock speeds with 2 gigs of Crucial memory and I can run everything on high at 1440x900 with not a single glitch. I just started the game earlier tonight and I'm loving it so far! The graphics and physics are insane to say the least

I have a Pentium D 820(all stock) and Palit Geforce 7300GT DDR2 (oc'd to 600 core 500 memory). I can run crysis at 1280*1024 with 2-3 settings on medium and I get 40-60 FPS. Only during the end of the game (the alien spaceship part) it runs with a few hiccups.
