I never watched LOST when it was new on the air, but I've recently started watching it online and just finished the first season today. So far, I love the show, but with the conclusion of the 24th episode, I drew quite a few notable similarities between the show and Crysis, which debuted 3 years after the show first aired. Mind you I'm only through the first season so I may be leaving some similarities out that happen later in the show. Please don't spoil it for me. :)

Anyway:

- Deserted island in the South Pacific
- The island feels "weird" and "different" to Nomad and the stranded people from Oceanic flight 815
- The island has seemingly supernatural abilities -- the black fog on LOST and whatever kills Aztec and the KPA soldiers in the jungle
- The "Black Rock" vs Dr. Rosenthal's research ship
- Dr. Rosenthal's research ship vs. Rousso's research ship
- Strange polar/arctic anomalies -- The polar bears in LOST and the ice covering Rosenthal's ship

I'm frankly befuddled by this -- it just seems so obvious now. Either way, I REALLY want to play Crysis again now, but I can't until November. Has anyone else noticed stuff like this?

Nice. I didn't notice a lot of that. The major difference though would be the one female on the entire island in Crysis versus a rough 50% split on Lost.

Yeah, but the game wouldn't have sold for shit if you had a team full of chicks though. :)

I'm not sure you're being sarcastic or not. But I beg to differ. Semi naked chicks shooting full automatic weapons might be a big hit.

I guess, but everything in Crysis was fully explained. So much for Lost comparisons :)

Ew, tv. 95% of current writers & producers should be lined up and shot.

Have you even seen Lost...?
Talk about a mind-fuck of a TV series.

Those are good points you bring up. I've never made those connections. The shipwrecks are oddly similar. ;)

Depending which show it is, I can tolerate 2-5 minutes before nausea sets in. Luckily for most viewers, shows rarely go 5 minutes without a 5 minute commercial break these days.

However, if my idea of lining up writers & producers and shooting them were implemented, THAT is something I'd watch. I'd even spend extra if it were a PPV event

My first thought when I [finally] saw Lost is it reminded me of the game Myst.

Your Crysis to LOST comparisons sort of fall apart when you realize that Crysis really mimics the developer's original game, Farcry. Farcry came out in March of 2004, before LOST.

Lost is a beautiful, genius, awesome tv production that everyone should watch.
