The astrisk IS defined just below in the print ad. The $49.99 is for the Collectors Edition.

its $39.99 with a free $10 gift card..the ** next to the gift card states it must be used on a different transaction..

I know what it means. What I'm saying is that the price might be $49.99 and they'll give you a GC for free, making it *like* $39.99 (I know you can't use the GC yet) rather than the price actually being $39.99 and THEN you get a GC on top of that. Guess we'll know once someone buys one.

Okay, just called them to confirm. It is indeed $39.99 AND you get the gc so I'm gonna run down to grab one now. For those interested, the collector's edition has the same deal but w/ a $49.99 price tag instead.

I just got back from Circuit City and they want $49.99 for the game and a $10 gift card. This is also being reflected on the Circuit City website now. The price of the game is $39.99 after a $10 gift card.

Just got back from my local CC. Had to go to the Customer Service desk to find it. The CSR told me the ad is a misprint and it should really be $49.99 + GC as I'm holding the flyer in my hand. I bought it anyway.

Ditto. The girl at the counter was completely clueless, so she called someone over. He said it's supposed to be $49.99 and a free $10 gift card. He wouldn't budge and said he had the same argument with someone else earlier. He wasn't very apologetic, but I bought the game anyway. For the record, it wasn't on the shelf, but I asked someone and they went back and got it.

i concur w/ everyone's post above..

just came back from my cc..game was actually not there..as im about to leave, the fedex truck showed up..sure enough the game was on there..

like everyone else's experience, this is a package deal - the receipt reads "game package" and lists $39.99 & $10.00 gift card. So i'm certain if you try to return the game, you'd lose the gc too. Oh well, at least we got the game super early! Now we're stuck w/ a cc card 🙁

My experience was better than most. 🙂

I just got the Special Edition for $39.99 and got the $10 GC as well. The staff and manager were clueless as usual and did it all via price adjustments - obviously not realizing it was the SE. I used the GC to get Shrek3 for $4.99.

Added bonus: Got a price match to Fry's WD OEM 750GB for the retail version and they messed that up as well. The instore price was $199 and the Frys OEM ad was for $179. The manager misread the Frys price and PM'd it to $159-$4 (10% difference) for a total of $155.

I also got to use a $40 off $199 coupon (legitimately obtained by moving) as well. Total OTD after tax was just under $175 for the game, the DVD and a 750GB drive! SWEET!

I've always hated CC (ties with BB for most hated retailer).... but if they keep staffing their stores with fools, I may just shop there more often! 🙂

I only got the game but I did get the Collector's Edition also for $39.99 + GC. I looked all over for the game and finally found someone to ask. He talk to CS and they opened the box right then as the delivery had just arrived. It rang up 59.99 and I told him it was in the weekly ad. He adjusted it and gave me a GC for $10.70 (+ tax!?!) I didn't even realize it was the Collector's Edition until I got home.

Now I just need an 8800GT.

Pretty much the same for me with the CSRs opening the box and all, but I noticed early on that it was the SE. I am also waiting for a 8800GT - sub $200 would be nice 🙂

I was able to get BB to price match Crysis (to $39) and Assassin's Creed (to $39) this morning using the ads from Frys.

Took about 15 minutes for them to ring me up at $39 plus $10 gift card. They had the game still in a box behind the returns department at the Carmel, IN store at 5PM today. Then it took a manager several tries to get it to ring up right. I feel sorry for people buying it who don't know about the special price as without fighting for it you may not get it.

I got it at for $39.99 and the $10 gift card. Took em a second I just had to point it out in the flyer they had and the person rang it up no problem. I then proceeded to Try to get CoD 4 with the gift card they didn't have it though... They proceeded to show me they did have it for Nintendo DS though... No thanks!

Edit: Mine was also behind the CSR counter. None on the shelf.

I got it for $39.99 and got the $10 gift card but I had to just about fight the manager to get it. The games were locked-up in the stock room and the guy on the floor that I talked to thought they weren't due to put on the shelf until the 16th. I pointed out the ad and when I told him I wanted that gift card too, they called the manager. He told me that I was supposed to pay $49 and get a gift card. I told him that no where in that ad was the number $49. He finaly gave up and said he would do it this time only and rang it up by hand. He was pretty red in the face by then but when I told him to come back again I thought he was going to implode, poor guy.
