Crysis image quality?

I've been playing crysis retail version and the game looks a little washed out with the latest drivers. When I got the demo with older drivers it looked really great although slow. Now with this new drivers it's a little faster but it doesn't look as sharp or detailed.

I'm a little bummed because I have to play Crysis at medium settings and it looks far worse than COD4 at the highest settings while getting triple the frame rates.

I don't know why the reviewers gave this game really high marks. It's exactly like any other first person shooter. Just with huge environments. The game feels exactly like Farcry and the main character's voice is exactly the same. I would have gave this game a 8.5.

Anyways back to the main question. Anyone else notice these new drivers feel a little washed out? Try the old driver than 169.04. I was actually playing with 163.71 before and crysis looked much more detailed.

The game runs fine for me @ max settings @ 1600x1200...

I agree with you about this game though...it's not as great as they say it is. Honestly if they had reviewed it as an 8.5 (which is about what I'd give it) I probably wouldn't have bought it.

as far as the drivers go, i'm using the latest and since i didn't play the demo I guess I can't say for certain, but it seems pretty crisp for me.

This is the only FPS i've ever actually went out and bought. I play 3 games, and I play every one in the series...X-Universe, Total War, and Silent Hunter. I like the idea of calculating a kill and planning a course of action...I suppose that's why I don't care for FPS's like my brother. I got Quake with my 8800GT and I played that for about 30 seconds before sticking it in the back of the CD wallet

I guess I should say therefore that i would not buy a FPS that got an 8.5, I royally blow at games like this (I've been killed 3 times on easy and it's still the first level!) I guess that's why I never got what Halo was all about

I retract my 8.5 score and now I give it a 9.5. I didn't get to the Alien level prior to giving my rating. The whole story gets whole lot interesting. The game becomes more bigger than the player.

When you get out of the cave to ice level I was crawling at 5fps at medium quality. I set my shader to lowest and now 15fps.
