Yeah I was watching that too. The frame rate dropped really low but in other parts (even though they also contained lots of vegetation)the frame rate was fine so I think that was just an isolated incident.

i hope they don't numb down the graphic's like bethesda did w/ oblivion after realizing most rigs won't run it.🙁 maybe it looks incredible now and then when it's released they drop some of the pretty eye candy so joe blow can play it too.:/

When Far Cry came out, you had to have some top-of-the-line hardware to run it at 1600x1200. And you had to have OC'ed a 9800 XT (fastest card at the time) to run it with some AA and AF.

They didn't do it then, and I don't think they'll do it with Crysis either.

I believe the GeForce 6 series, as well as ATi's X800 series were released either the same month of Far Cry's release, or just weeks after that. I'm not 100% certain, but I do remember one colleague at my job telling me he got rid of his previous Nvidia GPU for ATi's "new generation" for Far Cry just some time after he bought the game.

Far Cry was released to retail on 03/23/04. IIRC, the 6800 and X800 series cards weren't released until many months later, maybe late (Aug/Sept )2004. Benchmarks

i got my x800 in late may of that year, and my 6800 early june.

happens quite often at demo conventions, like CES and CeBIT. I've heard of demos not even working at all, or glitching the whole way through.

Looks awesome. 🙂

I don't care too much how this would run on my existing setup, since by the time it comes out I'll probably have a new card anyway.
