It might also have something to do with the delays with Vista and DX10.

Maybe even to tie it in with a late R600? Vista is on track for January but DX10 is still unkown as to when they'll let it out.

Trust me, with EA behind them it will still have plenty of bugs.

If it hadn't been delayed you'd all be calling it a buggy mess and blaming EA.

I'm not disputing that my dear ;)

I reserve all my blind irrational hatred towards a faceless international corporation for EA these days

They must have realized how badly DirectX 9 cards would run it. Or something ... they were SO confident it would make it this year. In fact ... if they HAVE to ... if they REALLY have to skip the HOLIDAYS (hello, bling bling $$$$$ opportunity) ... then it must be serious.

However it still sucks, I was expecting it this year, I haven't played a good FPS since H-L1: E1, and oh God was it too short.

Oh well ... at least S.T.A.L.K.E.R may be released before it, even if next year. You guys saw the new pictures by the way ? That one is 5 years-old and still catches up in terms of visual with today's standards in DX9 (completely excluding anything DX10 of course, or else it'd be comparing apples to oranges).

I've read in an interview that Crysis will run well on many D3D9 gpus. The guy that did the interview asked a member of the Crysis group about that and the latter replied that the demo that he was showing him is running on a 7800gtx 256..
It will surely be a very demanding game but my guess is that following the d3d9 path mid to high end d3d9 cards won't have problems. At least not more than FEAR Oblivion or Far Cry created when they were realized..
I do believe as well that it might have to do with possible R600 launch, but I hope that we won't have to wait for R600 that long :p
Or maybe the MP part of the game is still very buggy and they don't want to rush and sell a SP game with an unplayable MP part..

*edit I hope EmofoA 's fiscal year hasn't got to do anything with this delay.. :disgust:

I just hope EA doesn't have a fiscal year period. If there is any company I would like to see go down in flames it would be EA.

Not that I'm love with EA or anything, but...

1) Why would EA want to delay a launch? Doesn't sound much like a greedy company move to me...
2) Crytek has its own history of bugs and delays, or has everyone forgotten about patch 1.2 for Farcry.

1) Well I would have to assume that leaving a game like Crysis(that it will sell like crazy anyway) for next fiscal year would not "harm" the sales of the current titles in the market..
But EA isn't greedy? Cmon we are talking about a company that is absorbing major profits around the world, and on the other hand produces crappy products.(with some exceptions)
When was the last time that you saw a great title from EA from all the perspectives?
2) I do agree with that but that is where EA is supposed to help with its support..

They are waiting for R600 to be released since it's the card the game was designed on. They want to bundle the game with DAMMIT too.

those goofballs couldn't even get the autoupdater to work properly . . . and if your installation is not on the "C" drive ... you are [generally] screwed

evidently a lot of the BETA testers reported issues that were not even addressed in Ver 1.01 ... the thing barely runs without the patch on a mid-range system

As LONG as Crysis is released in working condition, i will be happy . . . i just don't want to PAY to be a BETA tester. :p
... please release it when it's REALLY done!

i really feel like involving my CC company to get a refund :p

They hyped Crysis up several months ago, and now we have to wait until Q2/07?

Could be a good summer for single Player FPS games though, especially with this and then Alan Wake.

I'm not really surprised by this at all. I always thought this year was a little ambitious, particularly with the Vista delays.

This was supposed to be the first DX10 game correct? Are there any others on the short-term horizon, besides Halo 2?

If true, I'm not suprised its delayed. Like mentioned before better to get it right first time than releasing a buggy product. I have more respect from developers that take the time needed to get a good product out despite how badly I want to play it than the developer doing the, "let just get it out now and fix it later" crap.

Shouldn't you put a tm by that? I'm pretty sure that is EA's slogan.

Better than a buggy, rushed product. Apart from that, maybe they are waiting for people to start upgrading their video cards with Vista/DX10/G80/R600 hype-machine in full gear?

I mean, check out all the heat Flight Simulator X is getting for staggering graphics hardware requirements. People won't turn in-game detail low: they will set everything to max and complain about an unoptimized engine.
