rig in sig (stock q6600 and 8800 speeds), 163.69 drivers
all settings to very high except postprocessing, shadow, and volumetric effects set to high. running at 1680 1050 no aa/af
in the dark i get 25-30fps, during the day i get 20fps. during firefights i get 17-20fps.
the gfx are pretty but the gameplay is pretty boring imo. i wont be buying crysis because it is not fun nor does it run good. ill be picking up ut3 as soon as i can tho :)

Intel E6600, 2GB DDR800, Geforce 8800 Ultra, Vista 64, drivers 169.04 (whatever the latest beta are)

I play on a CRT 1600x1200. I first tried max settings Very High, but the system couldn't handle it. It wasn't quite a slideshow, but I watched the opening scene with voiceover lag like in a badly dubbed foreign movie. I lowered the settings to High and played for a while, but wasn't quite happy. I fiddled with AA from 0x to 4x which altered the framerate by about 10-15%. I'm currently on a custom setting with "High" for most but some individually lowered to Medium and some raised to Very High. I created a custom autoexec.cfg which I'm still tweaking. I get about 25-30fps in most situations.

I enabled the in-game framerate and stats monitor since Fraps refused to work. At my settings its claiming to use most of available memory which makes me wonder if another 2GB would do some good. But some review sites say no.

Enjoying the demo so far, I've played through it several times trying as many different strategies. I don't know what people are complaining about with regard to the gameplay. There's some bugs I spotted: AI can get confused and stand around becoming easy targets, you can sometimes knock out 3 out of 4 supporting beams and still have the roof hold up, blowing up the propane tank doesn't kill anyone nearby, etc.

For the guy having trouble with the suit modes, I think it's easier to use 'v' to bring up the menu than the middle mouse button.

I run it at 1280x720 at high on everything but shadows which I have set to low.

It's very playable although I have had my PSU quit on me a few times and the screen go black.

Still looks damn good although I wish I could play it at my monitor's resolution of 1920x1080.

Wow and you have a Geforce 8800 Ultra and you still can't play well enough in DX10 with all settings on at least High. :Q

I doubt SLI Geforce 8800 Ultra video cards would help much. We need a video card thats 4 to 8 times faster than the Geforce 8800 Ultra to be able to play Crysis at insane resolutions, detail settings in DX10, high AA and AF.

Just a note:

I play with a xbox 360 controller and it is so much smoother to control. I'm a huge Keyboard/Mouse guy but have gotten use to playing with a controller and actually prefer it.

Not to mention Crysis was written to use the PC 360 controller and the layout makes transitioning from suit mod to suit mod much easier.

I played the demo at 1024x768 resolution (1680x1050 is my LCD native res) and had shadows, physics & post process at medium. Most of the other settings were on high. I have a 3700+ CPU, 7900GTX 512MB video card & 2GB of RAM. It ran "ok" but did stutter a lot during fire fights.

I'm currently upgrading my GFX card and hope to be playing the full version on a 8800GT or the new 8800GTS (assuming it's G92 based).

Click the mouse wheel to use your suit powers :)

If you're using setpoint make sure to reassign mousewheel-click to middle button. By default it's zoom.

Oooh! That's why it doesn't work! Thanks!

Yup,
I monkeyed around some yesterday with the settings and was able to enjoy a smooth game with no discernible lag.
I jacked the resolution as high as it would go (2048X1536), then set all the settings to 'high' except for 'shadows' and........dammit, I forget which other one....shaders maybe? I set both of those to 'medium'. No AA. I'm using the beta vid drivers that came out the day after the demo (I dont remember the version). Was absolutely beautiful. Didn't notice any lag or hiccups. Only issue that occurred was when I went to quit the game. I hit escape to get back to the main menu and the screen froze, but the music kept on going normally.......*shrug*

The first time I played through the demo, it ran pretty slow w/everything at very high. moved shaders and postprocessing down to med. and it ran a bit better but still not great. The real problem seemed to be whenever I would start shooting, the game would freeze for a couple of seconds. But over the weekend I started it up again to show a friend, put everything back to very high and it ran pretty good this time. it would still slow down a bit during firefights but it was noticably better than before. don't know why, I didn't change anything. tried the beta drivers and went back to the ones from sept. and didn't notice a change at that time.

I just built a new rig:

Asus P5K
Q6600 OC @ 3.01Ghz/per core
2GB DDR2 800
EVGA Superclock 8800GT 512MB (latest beta drivers on nVidia's website, I think 169.04)

I ran the game at 1680 x 1050. I had everything on high except:
- Post Processing = medium
- Shader Effects = medium

The game runs like a dream and is, without a doubt, the single most graphically (fidelity) impressive game I've even seen.

I cannot wait for this game.

C2d e6600 @3 GHZ
8800GTX
4GB ram
EVGA 680i Mobo
Windows Vista 32 Bit

at 1680X1050, I get 18-20 FPS in DX 10 mode with everything maxed (No AA);

if I turn postprocessing down to medium or low, I get 28-35 with little to no slowdown (very playable).

Turning everything to high except postprocessing (leaving postprocessing at low or medium), and I see ~35-39 FPS.

DX9 mode doesn;t seem to help much. It seems that postprocessing is owning my GTX. I hate depth of field so it is not really a big deal for me to turn this down, but I hate losing the HDR lighting.

I'm running:
Core 2 Quad@3.15GHz
8800GTX@600/2000MHz
4GB RAM
Vista Ultimate x64
nVidia 169.04 drivers

The game autodetects Very High detail and 1024x768. I have a 24" screen so I changed the resolution to 1280x768 and it is totally unplayable, 20fps with no enemies onscreen. Dropping the detail to high is borderline, but drops well under 30fps if there's anything actually going on. Dropping down to medium the game finally runs at something approaching a consistent framerate (30-60fps depending on what's going on). I haven't tried forcing a DX9 path (don't know how yet) or under XP, but at this point they've lost a sale from me. I thought I was one of the people with a PC actually fast enough to enjoy this game, I guess not.

Edit: For the record no other game (UT3, COD4, Oblivion, Bioshock) has any trouble nailing 60fps@1920x1200 on this rig, in some cases with AA turned on too. The settings I would have to use to play Crysis in 1920x1200@60fps make it look a lot worse than any of the games I listed above.

22in LCD 1680x1050 - I only run games at native resolution.
Vista 64bit
Q6600@3.0Ghz
4GB DDR2, 8800GT 512MB 700/1700/1900
Forcware 169.04 Beta Drivers

Very High = Completely unplayable and makes my system curl up in the fetal position and cry. Also makes baby Jesus cry.
High = Stutters while walking around and when the action gets heavy it's a slideshow.
Medium = 30-60FPS with 2x AA enabled

Every other game I own I run at 4xAA or better with high quality 16x AF. Bioshock is the exception, which I run at 2xAA and 8x high quality AF to get fluid framerates. I too will be waiting to get this game from the bargain bin when my hardware specs actually catch up to what Crysis wants.

it seems to me that no one is able to run this at max settings. is there a rig out there that can? I mean there must be if it was developed right? How long until we see something that can handle it in homes across america, I mean whats it going to take? and does anyone think that this may hurt the game in the long run?

no, there isnt a rig that can run max settings over 60fps now.

Next generation dx10 cards should run it fine. (not the refreshes coming in a week or so, the actual next generation as in a major architecture change)

No it will not hurt the game in the long run. It looks amazing at medium settings, it'll look even better on high.

Did anyone with a 320mb card experience the massive hit in FPS during the ship scene when it was covered in ice?

Go to the folder that the demo is installed in. If you are running a 32bit OS go to the bin32 folder, for 64bit OS go to the bin64 folder. There are 2 batch files in there, one is for a CPU benchmark, the other for the GPU benchmark.

Question:
I have a widescreen monitor..1680x1050
I have C2D at 3600 with x1900XT w/ XP pro 2GB ram
could I run crysis at 1680x1050 at medium setting no AA/AF and have it playable

How much better would a 8800GT be?..as I could get this for $270 plus tx or wiat a month and get it at $250 or less
