Wow, looks like another GPU benchmark that we beat in 5 hours and then never touch again except when we buy new cards.

Hence I'm looking at Crysis 3 as a benchmark to see how well games that I really want to play (e.g. Star Citizen, on Cryengine 3) are expected to perform. FPS? Not interested. Epic Freelancer successor w/ modern graphics? Yes please.

What I really think that needs to be mentioned is that 7970ghz is 85% faster than a 580 and 93% faster than the 6970 in the msaa tests. So much for a mediocre generation eh... Imagine overclocked numbers.

Just installed Crysis 3 and it really is a GPU killer.

I am playing 3 30" monitors @ 5160x2560 using 4x EVGA GTX-680 Classified in 4-Way SLI with everything on "Very High" and SMAA MGPU (2x) and 16xAF and I get the following:

A 6970 was only made with 2gb, and the gtx 580 1.5gb unless noted. So I don't think Vram was a issue at 1080p, with the 6970 2gb.

Looks like you need four GeForce Tit$ups

Great chart! I have two 680's in SLI and the game runs great most of the time at 1080p with 4X MSAA. However, there are a few areas in the game where my fps severely drops. The most notable part is towards the beginning of the game (not talking about the cut scene which my fps also drops during those). During the first open area where you are inside the ship, if I look towards a certain spot the fps drops into the low 20's, a similar drop occurs on the dam sequence. Not sure if this is normal or not. Has anyone else run into this issue?

Same issue here in those same areas. Watch your GPU usage during those FPS drops, it's falling off to 50%/50%, happens to me as well. Driver issue with SLI most likely.

Ah, thanks for the tip! Hopefully this will be fixed soon. Fortunately the rest of the game has been running great and it looks amazing!

Meh .. doesn't run that bad. It's about the same with metro 2033, and that game was released in 2010 and looks distinguishably worse.

FX8350 is beating i7 2600K. Holly crap. That means if a game is properly coded to take advantage of the 8-modules in the Vishera, it's not so bad! The era of dual-core CPUs is over: i3 falls apart.

Wow is this game demanding. I still haven't made up my mind if it's worth getting Crossfire 7950s if one of them is going to be running on a 4x PCI-e bus.

^^ VRAM issue 1/1

I doubt it, the GTX680 has 2GB (like the 69xx cards) and looks to run it ok.

Well ok. But no one ever complained about 7970 GHz being slow, being fastest single GPU card and all.

7970 and 36% over 580 is nothing to write home about.
We'll have that much in same generation with Titan. Alas, with a hefty price.

What defines a generation? Tahitis has been available for sale for well over a year now. The non-GHz edition 7970 may not blow away the GTX580, but those frame rates may be the difference between a playable game and an unplayble mess.

Look at the FX6300 pull ahead of the 2500K, too. That is surprising... well, to me at least. 🙂

35%, What the heck are you talking about? It's 85%

The CPU chart looks almost like a GPU chart. I'd wait for other performance reviews. There is a hint from Hilbert @ guru3d for example that the i7-3960x will not be much different than the years old i7-965 in this game. So I'll wait and see.
