Good, bad? better on console? Looks intriguing. The art style looks interesting (no more dark grimy shiny, but rather bright and colorful) and the gameplay of stealth, speed, armor looks interesting. MP looks like it has potential.

Most people will tell you to stay away (including me).

If you do get it, pay $10 when it's on sale. Game is not only "consolized" but also a step back in the graphics department (from Original).

My review short and simple

Battlefield 3 10/10
Crysis 2 6/10

Spend the extra and get BF3. If you already have BF3 then don't even bother wasting time with Crysis 2.

I only played Crysis 2 in single-player mode. The graphics were really nice with the hi-res pack installed. However, the game was boring. It quickly became a chore and I felt confused as to my purpose the entire time. Am I working towards the ultimate goal of curing the virus outbreak, or am I supposed to fight aliens, or am I supposed to hunt down humans who are betraying us?

Rage was more enjoyable. Battlefield 3 single-player campaign was much more enjoyable. BF3 co-op is a blast, but it's very short. I am currently enjoying BF3 online play.

I really liked Crysis 2 single player - for the first half of the game or so. After that it became boring and a chore. I ended up getting a trainer so I could finish it.
Never tried MP. Def get Battlefield 3 for MP though.

I was very disappointed with the MP.....if MP is what you're looking for then I would definitely go with BF3.

If a good single-player campaign is what you want, then I would rate it as "good." I much prefer the first Crysis in most every way.

The SP campaign on BF3 is pathetic, so again....it's whatever you're looking for.

Crysis2: SP = good, MP = meh

BF3: SP = rubbish, MP = great

It's just fine if you can find it for under $20. Now that it has DX11 support it'll look great, and people who think it's a step back in graphics just forget what the old game looked like... and/or they used mods. It's simply not heads and shoulders above the competition like the first one, but it's still an improvement.

Did anyone else have trouble installing the DX11 and Hi-Res texture packs? HardOCP did, and I was aware of the issue when I bought the game on Black Friday for $10. Here's what HardOCP said about it: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/06/29/crysis_2_dx11_tessellation_highres_texture_pack

Basically, I patched to 1.9 using the auto-update feature (which HardOCP warned against), and then I installed both add-ons. The game loads but says that the two features are not installed. I then manually downloaded patch 1.9 and applied it again. No dice.

Any ideas? The game plays fine in DX9, by the way - definitely better graphics than Crysis 1. Honestly, that game started looking dated in 2009. It's way too grainy in my opinion. Also the second half of Crysis 1 SP was absolutely horrible, so if what you all say is true (i.e. Crysis 2 is worse), I won't be finishing it (but I'd at least like to see it in DX11)!

Are you comparing it to Crysis 1 or some other game? Cause the first Crysis is still the best looking game out there (and had very nice scenery/views).

naw, I"m comparing it to other games on the market. It seems like lots of games have devoted their resources towards painting depressing cave-like environments.
