Crysis 2 crashing

pontifex

Lifer
I got Crysis 2 with the 60% off Origin code and installed and played fine. I saw they had a high res texture patch and installed that also. After I installed the high res textures, the game crashes when I try to resume my campaign.

I turned the option off in the game and restarted the game but it didn't make a difference.

Now I see that it requires DX11 which I don't have. It didn't mention that on the download screen, just said a video card with 768 MB or higher memory.

Is there a way to uninstall the high res texture patch without uninstalling the whole game?

You can turn of the hihg-texture pack in the options menu. It's under the advanced graphics options at the bottom with a checkbox. Otherwise, you could just delete the TextureHighRes.pak file from your install directory. It's at crysis 2\patch folder.

tried turning it off already, this was mentioned in the OP.

i tried deleting the .pak file and it still crashes. anything else that needs to be deleted?

I started a new campaign and it works. so i guess my save got hosed somehow.

As far as I know, this is a bug with patch v 1.9. It won't let you "resume", but you can still restart the chapter. It has nothing to do with the texture pack. Did you try 'resuming' successfully before installing the pack?

There are questionable .exe's floating around the web that supposedly fix this issue.

the game forced me to install 1.9 before i even started playing, so its not like i started playing on version 1.0, then updated to 1.9 and tried to load my save.

I started playing the game at version 1.9 and then installed the texture pack after I had saved and quit the game. when I went back, the game would crash during the loading of the saved game.

don't matter anyway as I restarted the campaign and got a lot further than my old save.

The bug lets you play normally, you just can't 'resume'. My question was, did you try to resume successfully before the texture pack?

And can you resume successfully now that you've restarted the campaign?
