Cryptocoin Mining?

Yeah, and people used to tell me that Mt Gox was the best place to exchange my Bitcoin because it the largest exchange in terms of volume.

What's really scary is that some of those people STILL thought that statement was true after they got hacked... twice!

I stopped using mtgox when they started to require you to send wire transfers because they were losing access to dwolla and other services... around the same time that silk roads was taken down.. i "felt" they were in trouble then

I'm having a weird problem. I have 3 290s mining right now with all connected to the same pool and with the same settings. However, one of my cards has a hashrate that is ~30% lower. Powertune settings are the same, clocks, mem, intensity, etc are ALL the same.

I am mining X13 right now but I had the same problem with scrypt.

Anyone know what could be going on?

Throttling?
Monitor temps, gpu usage and clocks of your cards during mining.

I am, but they all stay the same. The lower hashrate for the one card starts from the get go, as soon as I start the miner, and then just stays like that.

Any other ideas?

When I had 2 290's in one machine I had to tweak the TC, intensity, work size, clock settings independently on each card because each one worked better with different settings. Are they all the same manufacturer/model?

has anyone tried the 14.6 rc2 beta drivers?..
I'm seeing 10-15% increase in x11mod on my r9 280 and 290 cards..
but my 7970 cards are getting hw errors
I installed the drivers, but i also deleted the x11mod******.bin files that are created by sgminer so that sgminer can recreate those files.

i'm still looking into a flavor of sgminer for x15, but i haven't found one that tasted well enough.

I'm surprised to see people tweaking ANY mining setting using AMD cards. At this point, Nvidia's cards blow away AMD when mining X11/13/15 as far as power consumption goes.

I had the same problem when they were the same make/model. Now one of the cards is a non-reference 290 and the other 2 are reference.

EDIT: Hmm...seems to be okay now with different .bin files and settings on my miner. Again, I'm using the same settings though...weird.

Wow thats pretty good for stock clocks!

I think sgminer adjust/configures the clocks when initially started... i didn't have to do anything.

i think AMD tweaked these drivers also, because i was getting a 10-20% increase on x11 going from 14.4 to 14.6 rc2 beta.

i also ran these on x13 and x15, they appear to be doing well. I have all my cards running x15 now, i'll post my numbers when i get home from work.

i think my three 290x were doing around 3.5 mh/s each for x15

I'm getting 3.2mh/s on my 290s at 950/1500. I believe I'm using the .bin files from 14.6 RC2, but my driver is still 13.11 beta 9.5. I should really update the driver as well.

Do what you want but I guess I'm a little confused on how it could be justified unless your power is free.

Power use is still WAY lower than scrypt mining. I'm using about half the power mining X11/13/15. Also, even with the tweaking, power use didn't really go up, so increasing hash rate while keeping power use the same is a win/win. My whole 3x290 comp is pulling ~600w while X15 mining for 9.6mh/s total.

How much power (per mhash) does a 780 use for example mining X coins?

Well - even at my fairly high power cost of 0.16 cents/kwh I'm still making very small profit. My power cost is something like .75 cents a day and I make about a dollar a day per R9 290 on X13 at the moment. It really isn't worth the time and the energy I'll give you that - It's really just for fun. Wafflepool has actually been okay on X13 as of late.

I get 4.5mhs on x11 and 3.0mhs on X13 on my underclocked and undervolted R9 290 currently (Whole system pulls 190 watts at the wall). Yes, I know the 750's are something like a quarter of that power usage 😉

No idea how a 780Ti performs. Typically people are using the 750Ti's which pull about 50W and X11 mine around 2.10Mh/s.

I get the tinkering thing though. Hey, if you are making a profit still then go for it.

Are those drivers the same that are available at AMD's page? (14.6 Beta 6/24/2014)
Increase coming from which driver version?
Thanks.

yes... it's the 14.6 RC2 beta 6/24/2014 drivers that i'm using from AMD's page... and the sgminer v5 dated 6/30/2014 from nicehash.

Anyone have the multi-algo version of sgminer working with an AMD 290? It starts mining fine on Nicehash but crashes when it tries to switch algorithms. The algorithms work fine individually.

the one i got from nice hash works for an hour for me and does switching, but then it just stops during one of the switches after about an hour. So i only run it when i'm home, and then i just set it to just one (x15) when i'm not home

Sigh...the one from Nicehash crashes, and another one I got from Bitcointalk also crashes. 🙁

what pool are you trying?.. I'm on trademybit... i'm running it on three systems and they all stop at the same time. I'm thinking that it might be the pool.... or it's a conspiracy of the three systems against me.
