Yesterday I bet Doge would hit 200 soon once it broke the 100 barrier (there was a 100BTC sell order at 100 satoshi!), then I bet Doge would hit 300 today..

Thank gawd I finally took my own advice and bought a HEAP of Doge at 160 Satoshi.. silence the fear in your mind and let the gut instinct take over!

CoinedUP isn't slow, Cryptsy is slow, 6 hrs later they still have my transaction on "pending"..

Cryptsy holds your funds hostage while Coinedup has weak servers that can't handle heavy loads.

My 150K from the past few days is 12 LTC? This is going to crash spectacularly and recover in between the bottom and the peak. What is the peak?

The value increase is completely absurd though.

What's the preferred setup for 290/X quadfire? Some sort of Z87 board with quad xfire/SLI capable PCI-e? I think I'd either need to go dual PSU or a 1500W PSU for that kind of setup, and definitely water cool...

I'd go for 4x aftermarket 290/x's and put them on PCI-E riser cables and "hang" them or rig them above the case (maybe 2 inside and two above). Dual card with one slot between requires too high of a fan (55% likely isn't enough) and it gets loud as you go up. If noise isn't an issue then sure quad crossfire is probably doable in a single case. Then again I'm wishing I had went open bench with aftermarket cards seeing that it's fairly noisy to tame these beasts mining. I have a 60% cap atm, I had 55%.

I'm at about 700w give or take with dual 290x (stock, higher memory) so 1500w should easily do it, I wouldn't go much less. Basically you can go dual psu, I have an HX850 and am going to drop in a couple cards with another PSU so it only needs to be about 600w I believe. My 850w has some headroom but I'd prefer it that way.

Dogecoin wild going is moon!

250 already! This is one heck of a rise, hopefully not to be followed with an immediate dump. This is a wild ride. It's been just over a week going from 33 -> 250! If it's truly a pump n dump it might be even faster on the way down. Interesting times.

just sold a few doge on bter. bit of a panic sell, but will continue to mine! not sure if it was a good choice or not! 😛

Edit:

Yeah. Bter and coinedup fell a bit, which is why I sold. I know it just mild dip jitters, but I feel this rise has been way too fast. BTC and LTC is simply safer. We all know it's going to fall and then stabilize... I'm waiting for that to buy back in with some BTC.

Damned coinedup cost me more money than it should've if the servers weren't so damn laggy. And I chose the worst time to buy, when it peaked at .00000244 DOGE/BTC.

You need to look at the big picture, after a pump there will always be a dump.
How big of a dump? thats the real question, I bought back with 2BTC worth at 200satoshi and sold at 260. Made 150k Doge profits and ready for the next pump 😛.
Now its at 185~ish, but meh @!#!$ it I made good enough profit for one cycle.

Card : MSI Gaming 290x, Hynix memory
Core: 860
Memory: 1250
Core voltage: -20
Power tune: 0
Fan speed: auto (~50% @72C)
Intensity: 20
-w (?): 256
Thread-concurrency: 33792
Work Unit: ?
Hash rate: ~840 kHash/s
Mining with: GUIMiner-scrypt alpha 0.04 (uses cgminer 3.1.0)

I put the 7970 back in and with both cards hashing away, the 290x only gets 711 now 😕

Do high temps cause degradation in performance?

Edit: restarted guiminer and it's now at 840. will see if it drops over time. already dropped to 784 with the 290x @ 94C

Now down to 750... 728

So it does appear the temps are negatively impacting my 290x hash rates. Anyone else experience anything similar?

yes high temps are very bad, do you have them squashed together? You need like 1 slot open air between them unless you have crazy air flow.

I don't own a 290x but intensity at 20 has not been best for me on any card. I prefer a lower intensity, lower voltage and smaller overclock. I just let it sit for weeks and mine. The stress of trying to squeeze every little bit is not worth the stress, frustration, time, time having to monitor it, down times, reboots, driver/os reinstall, crashes etc.

I'm 1000 percent less worried now with slightly lower hash running 24/7/30 days so far. It got so bad trying to optimize for a few more hash my actual work suffered and I actually lost more hair trying to squeeze every bit of hash and worrying about it.

Yeah they're really close, I can just fit my hand between the 2 cards. Hashed all day @840kh, 78C until I put the 7970 in. Need to get that PCIe extension cable asap

yes I had the same issue, the heat has no where to go and the card above the other card is just sucking in hot air to the heatsinks. It was worth paying the 2x price for a US shipped pcie riser cable. I could have waited on a cheaper one from china but the down time of the card isn't worth the extra 10 dollars. Just search on amazon or ebay for the nearest one and it should get to you in a few days.

A heads up to fellow miners, while Doge is still crazy profitable.. be on the lookout for Foxcoin (just launched), it's got some very unique anti pool-jumping mechanisms that prevents massive surges of difficulty and potential abuse.

Yup already saw it yesterday. Switching over when I get home this afternoon. No more DOGE for me. ~600Kh/s isn't very profitable for me, nor do I think I'll mine much at the current difficulty.

Catcoin is set for a fork and update as well as they're doing one final attempt to save the coin. I'm going to risk it and mine some CATs.

For the guy having trouble with the 290 / x

I was able to get my 2 290's and my 290x to all run exactly at 910khash.

You need a program like afterburner to manually specify a fan speed or profile to keep them under 94c, because the moment they hit 94c it starts dropping corespeed and voltage to reduce temp. Also you are going to have to play with clock and memory speeds because these cards are hyper sensitive to any changes. I had to lower the speed on my 290x to increase hash and increase speed on my 290's to increase hash.

My 290x runs at 950/1250
and my 290's run at 1030/1450

R9 290/x owners, I'd like to start a list of settings and hashes.

Card 1: Reference 290x, Elpida memory
Core: 900 (underclocked)
Memory: 1500
Core voltage: -30
Power tune: +50
Fan speed: 60%
Intensity: 20
-w (?): 256
Thread-concurrency: 28600
Work Unit: ~760
Hash rate: ~860 kHash/s

Card 2: Reference 290x, unkown memory
Core: stock 1000
Memory: 1500
Core voltage: 0
Power tune: +50
Fan speed: 60%
Intensity: 20
-w (?): 256
Thread-concurrency: 40200
Work Unit: ~870
Hash rate: ~970 kHash/s

Please quote the post to get the template and fill in the numbers (#).

Code:
[B]Card #[/B]: [B]Model 290/x[/B], which memory
[B]Core[/B]: #
[B]Memory[/B]: #
[B]Core voltage[/B]: #
[B]Power tune[/B]: #
[B]Fan speed[/B]: #%
[B]Intensity[/B]: #
[B]-w (?)[/B]: #
[B]Thread-concurrency[/B]: #
[B]Work Unit: ~#[/B]
[B][SIZE=5]Hash rate: ~# kHash/s[/SIZE][/B]
I'd like to compare with what you guys are getting and get a nice list started.
(add anything if it's missing and I'll update the template)
