Cryptocoin Mining?

Just got a 290x but can't get it to mine. I've installed latest drivers as well as APP SDK 2.9. When I start cgminer:

Error -42: Loading Binary into cl_program (clCreateProgramWithBinary)

Highest hash rate I've gotten is 10khash... what am I missing? Tried few settings online but none seem to work. This is the latest one I tried:

--scrypt -g 1 -w 512 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 24550 -I 20 --gpu-fan 75 --gpu-powertune 20

Remove the extra stuff at first. Start with a minimal configuration to get going.

Put this in cgminer's directory in a txt file and rename it to e.g. cgminerStart.bat

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://addresshere.com:3333 -u yourworkname -p yourpassword -I 15 -w 256

Once you verify it works, up the intensity inside cgminer until it gets unresponsive or you hit 20. (Press G, I, 0, 16 in this order as it prompts to change intensity inside cgminer)

Uninstall the SDK you dont need it with the latest drivers. So remove everything and do it again.

Removed SDK, drivers, rebooted and reinstalled drivers but still no go, even with a simple cgminer batch file. I'm getting a black screen not long after cgminer starts... my 850w power supply should be enough to handle a single 290x right?

Nothing's changed from the config (in sig), I just pulled both 7970s out and put in the 290x. Using cgminer 3.7.2..

I've had all kinds of issues at first but then I guess the stars aligned and it has worked great. I've stuck to that config since with only a minor tweak at a time.

Delete the generated files from the cgminer folder, or better start with a new folder (unzip it again) and create the bat file in it.

Also, if it can't connect to the pool it "sticks" with a black screen before shutting down. Are you sure about the pools part of the config?

Maybe try an older version of cgminer? I recall something about the newer version not being compatible with GPU mining, but not sure which version made that switch.

2.7.2 works for me. At first it didn't but I sorted out my configuration issues with an older version and switched back to it. It is the last official version from that guy.

I'm going to wait a few years until I consider selling my millions of DOGEs. I just want to be that guy who is like, "how? Well I mined DOGEs for 3 days a few years ago".

My biggest mistake was stopping at 50 difficulty and not having mined another million or two since then.

Doge shooting up again...Alas, I would have traded in all the Doges anyway when it tanking if I had still been mining them since I thought it was dead. But I was left with only a few spares since I jumped ship, and then had the worst luck when I selected a pool with high hashrates but couldn't find a block to save its life(forked, most likely)....

Screw it I am mining Doge again. Don't want to be the guy who says, "I should have mined more DOGE when the diff was only 600 or so. "

To the moon Dogenaire

That's the thing that makes it hard to quit. It's been nagging at me too but that downward spiral made me question it for a while. 😀

After trying some other dead end coins it keeps luring me back. In the end it's been consistently in the higher end of profitability, although not great at times.

Can I make $200/month on Litecoin per month after cashing out to Bitcoin with a single 290X under water?

Don't count electricity as I'm presently in a housing unit with no independent Electrical Bills and the Rent will not change. Perhaps it's an opportune time for me to put 2 x's 290X's under water for Litecoin mining?

What would I expect to make per month mining Litecoin with 2 x's 290X's under water?

If you can push it close to 1MH/s, which should be doable under water, you should be able to make close to $200/month.

if your apartment doesn't charge electricity just go buy as many cheap 7850, 7950 as you can and mine asap.

When the apartment manager gets the bill, they might change their policy. Do not underestimate how much mining costs in electricity. Don't underestimate the heat, either.

My 7950s cost about $40 a month each to feed.

My stars haven't aligned yet. GUI miner gives me a black screen sometimes, and requires a reboot. I tried unzipping a fresh installation of CG miner and that did not work either. I'm sure the pools are ok because I use the same settings as before (changed worker name only)

Finally got it to mine doge but GPU usage jumps between 50 - 70 constantly, it's never pegged at 100%. stock settings of 1030/1250, 680khash @45C

PS. I have the MSI Twin Frozr Gaming 290x.

yes, electricity is a huge cost. I pay tiered pricing 12.5 cents for the first 280 kw, 15 cents for the first 360w, 28 cents for the first 550 watts if I go over 550 watts I'm paying 30 cents kwatt. My bills went from $30 to $180 a month.

Cryptsy has been having massive delays on DOGE.

I've been trading the other way mostly. Deposits to cryptsy have been taking up 6-12 hours at times.

Put it this way I'm geared to income; so, the Heat of 2 x's 290X's running at say 1225/1500 Mhz's running slightly under 850W's 24/7 probably will not cost more then floor board 220 watt rad heaters in these stinking 2 room apartments.

Then the other question comes regarding Geared to Income Apartments Vs Income Received - Just leave everything in PayPal or open an undeclared Bank Account.

At 20 intensity? If so there's something very wrong. If it's at like 12 or something it may be ok for such a low intensity, turn it up if so.

Suklee, I found this to be the best settings for R290s..

Thread Conc: 24440
GPU Threads: 1
Vector: 1
Worksize: 256
Intensity 19 or 20

This yields 836 kH/s at stock R290, for the card with Hynix, and about 818 kH/s for the Elpida card.

Also you may need to increase power tune to 25 or 50% and let it do what it wants to not throttle. Also Elpida vram gets WORSE performance when its OC or underclock, by a massive margin. Damn you Elpida!

Edit: I seem to be getting some orpahned shares. My setup hasn't changed though, it's just that DOGE difficulty went up. Any suggestions?

The Stilt is optimizing R290 vBIOSes.
