Cryptocoin Mining?

I'm half/half between Earthcoin and Doge. Kind of a bummer EAC dropped pretty hard.

Also, I'm having trouble tweaking my AMD motherboard. It's a Gigabyte 990FX-UD3. Using nearly identical settings, my 2x Sapphire R9-280 gets about 40-50 KH/s lower at stock (1020/1500) than my Asus P8P67 system. Any hints?

Using Windows 7 x64, 1x 4GB DDR3-1333, Athlon II x2-250 vs Celeron G1610, EVGA G2 1000W.

Is this good? What should I put as the minimum threshold? The rate here is 3.5% I believe.

Doge has been surprisingly profitable for so long and consistently so its quite amazing actually considering the massive amounts being generated, nearing 20B coins already.

I thought I'd try Netcoin so I downloaded the wallet from their site and Trend found a trojan in it. What a minefield.

Trojan in wallet from here:

Is virustotal reliable? The dogecoin qt looks bad.

My suspicion is that malware are using the code to mine so they are finding the same signatures in these. Who knows.

I wonder how one can safely go about this since everything is suspicious.

How about less than 6 cents USD per kWh + delivery charges... Gotta love NE Ohio.

It's about 7 cents here and earlier this fall the energy co-op sent a letter saying that we are getting a refund applied since they made more money than expected. Really nice that the electric company is member owned and not just out for profit.

False positives? I ran housecall on the dogecoin client, in fact I run it on every client I download. Haven't had a positive yet.

Horribly unprofitable for me.. Whole day of mining yesterday and got only 2 CATs..

yeah, catcoins are and have been solely a speculators twinkle in the eye. If you didn't get in right when they launched, you missed the boat, or you're hoping they turn into the next LTC/BTC because of their properties (they have the same block/difficulty format as BTC). Basically, you mine and hold long. LONG long, hoping they turn into the next bitcoin. But they won't, because they are entirely premised on being the yang to dogecoin's yin.

Basically, sit on them and come back in a couple years. They might be worth something.

scrypt mining: It's an art.

They are called false positives.

Stop arguing about it God damn it. Go create your own thread if you want to argue. I want to talk ONLY mining and maybe profitability about it. It's not going to change anything whether you argue or not because these virtual currencies are all just guess work.

I WAS talking about mining. He falsely attributed something to me. I corrected him. That would have been the end of it, if you hadn't posted. You don't speak for everyone, anyway, as several posters have already stated that they thought the mine vs buy comparison was useful to them. Skip over posts you don't find interesting to you personally. It's not hard.

hey guys, I'd like to say I stupidly sent my doge coins to my dgc address on vircurex.com

Customer support answered my emails and fixed it very fast and this was at about 3am on New Years. So they are pretty stand up in my eyes.

Nxt seems like a way for the original group to get rich. I tried for about a day but didn't get a single coin. You have to have coins to get coins so it disproportionally rewards those who got in big and early. The difference with other coins are you don't have to have any coins to get a proportion based on your mining capabilities.

Perhaps I misunderstood it but it seems like a joke if you can't get anything later since those with coins reap the rewards.

I'm not sure if you are referring to the hashrate or not but 237 is extremely low for a 6870. You should not settle for anything less than 300.

There's a lot less gamble in mining than the day-trading than you're a proponent of, presuming you understand the numbers.

I agree but I really regret not investing at least a grand into LTC when they were down to $10 each 🙁 I already could have doubled my profits and made back for what I spent on my video cards (about a grand) instead of generating only about $300 so far...

Last night I was like holy crap, I spent over a grand on cards alone 😵 I only generated about 16 LTC so far in about 5 weeks of mining. But, I still have faith and refuse to cash out until they reach at least $100 each.

Intensity on 14, fan on 65%, temps at 77C. Don't I want to stay below the 85C range?

Also, I can get exactly 300 if I put intensity to 18 and fan to 100%, but that's going to kill my card. I don't overclock, either. I'm using this computer as my only computer as well.
