Cryptocoin Mining?

I'm curious to see what happens when Mt. Gox reopens. I'd imagine that the bitcoin price will temporarily tank when a bunch of their pissed off users liquidate their accounts.

The increase in july was going to be the end of the road for me any way.i just don't see the point in beating up the hardware for the 2 coins a week i'll make.according to the calculator on deepbit's site you would have to run 750 Mhash/s to get .49 btc

per week??

per week??

i dropped to .34 so thats 2.38 btc per week,i'm still running both my cards on stock volts so i could up the volts and overclock them a bit more but i don't see the point.in a couple weeks the new increase will negate the overclock and all i did was beat on my power supply and video cards for maybe 1 extra coin per week

wow.

I run ~550 mhash to not beat the psu/gpus up too bad, hope the price of btc's goes up over 20 or I will be out of the game soon

Hm, when recovering your account, what were the password strength requirements? I can't even remember what I put, and I'm trying to figure if there was some complexity requirement that I'm forgetting and not trying.

I tried to recover my account but it keeps telling me my new pass word is not secure enough, its 20 letters and numbers with upper and lower case, what more do they want

wow, the return rate on mining is dropping like a rock. mtgox seems to be holding at ~17

this may be the first time total hash rate is dropping in comparison to difficulty. still early tho.

Ugh, something seems up with their login. I changed my password on their account status page, and it still doesn't work. My claim has been accepted, so I should be able to access my account.

Hopefully you didn't get snared into using some spoofed site for your account setup. These things can get tricky quick if people are really interested in being persistent about it (look at lulsec)

Deepbit is horrible if you are looking at trying to maximize your payouts. I switched from deepbit to bitcoins.lc 2 weeks ago and have averaged .93 BTC/day with 650Mhash/s, and that is including today which still has 3 hours to go. It would be much higher if bitcoins.lc didn't have a 13.5 hour block and a 5.5 hour block due to pool issues today, basically rending today useless for mining. I have switched now to multipool. Multipool is a pool that mines multiple other pools and uses an algorithm to jump between pools at the best possible time to maximize payouts. People are getting ~10% increased payouts so far from what I read in the forum. This is probably my last week of mining as well.

Mt. Gox is holding at 17 because their market is frozen. It opens tomorrow around 11am EST I think. I expect and hope it tanks HUGELY, so that I can buy up some bitcoins before it makes a recovery.

deepbit was the first pool i joined but after this last coin i'm done.If i try this again i'll try out those other pools

you would think that since deepbit is the largest, they would find a proportionately large share of the blocks and earn the most for its poolers.

anybody know how many ghashes you need to solo mine with any chance of success?

You would have to define success. You can solo mine with any amount really and you will most likely eventually find a block. I would think that anything above 5ghash/s would be pretty fun to use for solo mining. I am gonna solo mine for a week or so after I quit pooled mining with my 655Mhash/s, just for the off chance that I hit a block and get 50BTC. Its like the lottery.

Yeah, this e-mail is the one that verified my account:

Mt.Gox Account recovery service

Account recovery request submitted at 2011-06-22 00:48:55 GMT.

Your account recovery request has been accepted.
You will be able to access your Mt.Gox account once the site opens again.
In the meantime, you can consult your balance and account logs.

I just want the $50-ish dollars that I have in my MtGox account. 😛
