hiho hiho its off to mining i go.
i guess im up and running on btcguild. should i also run on slush?

5870 2gb ~350 Mhash

As opposed to my 6950's only 330 Mhash/s, with a 5% clock increase.

lol, sapphire 5870 eyefinity 6 @stock clock from newegg $180AR. should have gotten 2 of them when i had the chance. cypress for the marginal advantage, woot.

hate to think what will happen when southern islands comes out. I wonder if the vliw5 of cypress is what makes it stronger for hash work.

Yes, it's having that 5th shader processor that gives the 5xxx series the advantage over 6xxx. Here's to hoping 28nm sees AMD cramming even more shader clusters on card and not going the nVidia route of fewer beefier units.

eh? I thought the plan was to stick with vliw4 for a while.

Gamer PC w/ 3x5830 2x mining 100% at -f1, other at -f128 so as to allow for gaming/desktop acceleration

This did not work so well. The design of the motherboard doesn't allow for gaps with 3 double slot video cards. I had to down-clock to 600mhz to keep the middle card below 90C, but as a result my hash rate with 3 under-clock cards was about the same as I could get with 2 over-clocked cards. I tried adding a fan directly over the middle cards but that wasn't enough, so I simply removed the middle card and went back to full OC speed.

So now I have a stray 5830 which needs a home, I am going to see if I can use it in an unused Dell I have sitting around, though I have doubts about the power supply.

I had the same issue. You tried underclocking the memory?

Yeah sorry but Bitcoins are worth around $20 right now. So currently AMD cards will turn a profit after a week of mining.

I'm just annoyed that I couldn't take advantage of the $13 for Bitcoins that happened in the last 20 hours. Stupid Dwolla taking forever on everything. Their network is probably flooded though.

Why not try PCIe ribbons? People are doing that all over the place from what I've seen.

How does everyone feel about a 5830 and a 5850 backed by a ~1 year old 550w OCZ Fatality PSU?? Think I'd be okay for 24/7 mining? At least for a few months until I'm back stateside with Newegg access?!

Edit: I've traded my GTX460 for a 5830 straight up and can get an XFX 5850 black ed. for about $270 USD, which is an awesome deal for Brazil!

id like to know that

so if i have bitcoins, whats the best way to turn that into cash OR amazon payments/GC?

much appreciated

in your guy's opinion right now i havea hx520watt psu and running a 5870
going to be getting a 6950 1gb on wednesday, do you guys think a 6950 1gb + 5770 will work with the psu or would 2x 6950 work?

nice nice. Overall this is pretty interesting eh?
volatile but something to do over the summer instead of surgery lol

This particular machine is my main gaming machine, it needs to remain in it's case for the most part just to keep my desk area reasonably clean. I'll probably build a second dedicated machine for the 3 5830s and run it without a case directly in front of the AC. I can also under-clock the memory, didn't want to do that on my gaming box due to adverse gaming performance.

Extender cables + a custom case are the best way if you have the time and money. We had plans for a quad 5830 rig. Built the case and everything....then they sold out.

5870 2gb ~350 Mhash

Hmm is there something wrong with my 5870 2gb? I'm only getting around 310 mhash with a slight overclock to 900 core. My 6950 with unlocked shaders is pulling in 330 mhash at 810 core.
