My Goal was un-nessary O.C. to Down clock. it may reduce Heat and extra wear and tear on mem chips.
So far I didn't lose any Mhash/s by down clocking the memory

Currently showing around 270MHash in GUI miner, but a Google search reveals that others are getting more than that with 5870s--up to 400MHash.

Other than overclocking (which I will be trying shortly) does anyone have suggestions for ways I can maximize my hash rate?

Edit: Wow, just by adding "-v -w 128" flags I've increased to ~370!

Edit: Wow, just by adding "-v -w 128" flags I've increased to ~370!

Setting the right flags for your mining application can make all the difference. Check bitcoin forums for details for your specific GPU and application.

The other end is maximizing your hardware's performance/watt efficiency in relation to profit (which changes with BTC pricing).

Yep, you always need to balance hash rate with power consumption. For example, if an overclock only gives you ~30 mhash more but consumes a lot more wattage, it is probably not worth the overclock, depending on electricity costs.

One of those kill-a-watt meters is a miners best friend. 🙂

If things go way they are, you might able to pull $50- $75 before it would get un profitable

Lmao I'd love to see your math on that one, unless you are assuming free electricity, no increase in difficulty, and aren't factoring the revenue halving six weeks from now. A 5870 will also continue to depreciate and the end of GPU mining will likely flood the market, pushing resale value down some more; nevertheless it may depreciate more slowly than current card prices are falling, so we can set that aside for now. 🙂

It's pretty reasonable, at 370MH/s he'll be currently making about .12BTC/day. Exactly when the block reward halves will be dependent on when the ASICs hit the network, but it probably won't be until around Thanksgiving. With free electricity and $12/BTC he could make at least $50 in that time.

To be fair, he doesn't need free power, he just needs cheap power. He indicated that he doesn't mind the heat, so depending on how he heats his home and whether he needs heat right now he could have a marginal power cost of 0 even if he has to pay for power.

The 60 day price is also pretty stable around $12. That doesn't mean it won't change, but there's no reason to think it will go down as opposed to up at this point. Even at $0.09/kWh and 150W, he'd only be spending $0.32/day on electricity vs $1.46 in revenue.

I think it breaks the mother monitoring and more...
Would any cgminer vs stock phoenix increase BTC/day?

P.S. I'm not liking EMC a much now, it seams to have few spikes/day where my it go without work just looking at the gpumon graphs. Not sure if I should go back to slush with poor reporting or try 50btc

Glad winter is coming. I have yet to turn my heat on and it's getting down to 40F at night. To top it off, my heat is electric anyway, so more money in the bank I suppose.
