I had a feeling GPU is no longer valuable for me.
ASIC are in the game now........ They are not like one or two
I mean they are quiet few of them in the network.........
Its like 4 banger just whing high on its High RPM........ But now those
V8 guys are just chomping us at idle..............

The network hashrate has risen, but I'm getting more BTC/24hrs than I was a week ago. I'll probably try and stick it out for a while to build up some funding for a new GPU next year.

Whatever is happening, my BTC/day has gone down relatively compared to several months ago. I was getting about 0.35BTC/day several months ago with 2x6950s, and it went up to about 0.4+BTC/day when I swapped one of the 6950s for a 7950, but it has gone back down to 0.35BTC/day for the last couple of weeks.

I thought I would be getting more as well...maybe due to the fees that BTCGuild charges? And difficulty increases as well probably.

I get ~0.22 btc with a 7950.

I'll keep going but will likely drop out once I make <$30 per month.

Yes, the difficulty has risen a lot in the last 4 months. Since that time the value of bitcoin has risen as well though.

June 1, 2012 ~ $5-5.50 per BTC
Sept 1-5, 2012 ~ $10-11 per BTC

So while the output has fallen, what's your daily earnings? For example, if you used to make 0.35 BTC/day with 2 6950s but the value was $5, you are way better off now making 0.35 BTC/day since the coin is worth $10+.

I get ~0.22 btc with a 7950.

What are the GPU clock speeds on your 7950 to get 0.221 BTC? I am getting 0.265 BTC on my card so I am guessing your GPU clocks are 1100mhz?

Yes, 1100 24/7. Unattended the card mines at stock 1.031v just fine but with browsing and video watching I get a driver crash and recovery few times a week so I bumped to 1.043v, cost me 1C in higher temps. I switched to the BTC guild like a week ago based on your recommendation. I ca't really compare because of all the changes but I do think the guild has better output. Also thanks for recommending fast cash, it's been a breeze.

If you do run into some 90+ ASIC 7950 performance analysis please link it.

That's a very good overclock since most of the guys hitting 1150-1200mhz need to push your card to 1.13-1.175V. You are running 1100mhz at just 1.043V! Sapphire is putting 1.2-1.212V into the HD7950 Vapor X at 950mhz. I think you are doing well :)

Ya, the way I look at it buying AMD cards this generation was a no brainer. You get at least as fast gaming performance and they pay for themselves on the side. When GPU mining fails, you have made some $ towards a future GPU upgrade. If you got a 670/680, well that's $400-500 out of your pocket and next 1-2 generations when you decide to upgrade you have $0 towards a future GPU.

I just saw a Sapphire 7950 OC go for $285 shipped on [H]. Luckily I don't have a second slot to fit it in. My post was misleading, I forgot to mention the caveat:
I have 2 Afterburner profiles, one is the 1100/600 for BTC, now at 1043v. It's stable for desktop and media. For games I simply have to use higher voltage, 1.087v for 1100/1575.

Cashing out bitcoins for the fist time was strange. I was skeptical about about making money on cruise control but this thing spits out mini paychecks on a regular basis and til the Jalapeno hits retail, I'll keep loling my way to the bank.
If one uses a AMD card for mining for a few months and decides to sell, "breaking even" has an entirely new meaning. Got a low ball offer? Keep the card for another week of mining.

All of my bitcoin earnings (got a 5770 helping a bit) were sitting in paypal the entire time so I was pleasantly surprised after I pulled the trigger on a refurb HAF X.

Looks like the price is back at $10.50.

As it is over $10 right now I am selling everything I make. I was even selling them at $5 since I was still profiting. BTC mining is just a bonus for me, so I don't care to speculate on the prices and look for bigger rewards.

Its really stupid that people would launder money with bitcoin.
Bitcoin is semi anonymous not anonymous like cash.
Wallet ownership is anonymous. Transactions between wallets are exposed to all, including the law, without a warrant.
Finding who owns a known criminal wallet requires some difficulty but you can trace every single transaction ever made in the network. And easily monitor known to be criminal wallets.

You can change the address of any wallet. Once $1 million bitcoins are sent to an address, that person can liquidate all the funds and run away with cash. Furthermore, the person blackmailing with bitcoins may be located outside of US. If that person is in Asia or Eastern Europe, the chance of you getting that $ back once you send it is zero. The guys doing it are not your average bitcoin videocard user. They are probably programmers who can change IPs and everything on the fly and maybe even have the funds go to Bermuda or some country like Bhutan you've never heard of. Maybe if you spend millions of dollars on top programmers and used FBI + Interpol you can start tracing the transactions but for now it's basically anonymous, which is why criminals use it. They also use bitcoin mixing techniques which uses multiple addresses when the transaction happens, which makes it very difficult to trace it to just 1 source.

It's only going to get worse. Even if not a single BL ASIC ever joined the network, the difficulty rate is increasing faster than AMD can produce faster GPUs for mining. We are purely limited by 28nm technology in how many shaders AMD can fit. Also, since AMD makes GPUs for games and not mining, they will use up the die space with TMUs and ROPs. I don't expect 8970 to have more than 2560 SPs @ 1150mhz. That's only 25% faster than an overclocked 7970. By the time 8970 launches, the difficulty will increase A LOT more than 25%, negating all performance advantage of the newer cards. Sooner or later, the difficulty will be so high that we'd need GPUs to become 3-5x faster to make sense to mine and that's not happening for a long time. I guess just enjoy it while it lasts :)

I was hoping in Nov to March to have a nice cozy warm home to go without running lot of heater in the house (room).
Cause Mrs Sauga get really chilled if heater ducts are not opened.
Those pasky nosisy Cisco Router and switches are nothing more of Noise maker then a room warmer.........:\
But 6970 and 7970 are can raise temps in the room, more then One Night stand from Guvernment ():) on saturday night.:sneaky:

Yes, in a age where the next brilliant programmer/hacker mind could be a 17 year old, outsmarting technology is almost easily possible. I only wish my own IQ was as high !

Brilliant comment, brilliant! If bitcoin mining fails, maybe you can call the one night stand your gf and have her warm you up instead.

Those issues stem from international enforcement rather then bitcoin itself.
And apply to all currencies.

I goggled and found https://fastcash4bitcoins.com/ is this the site you use?
