Hmm.. My 8800GT is still sitting in a box on a chair in my room. Maybe I'll pop it in as a dedicated PhysX card along side my GTX 285.

After playing a bit it seems like it could be fun, but like others, I'm really not impressed with the performance. At 1920x1200, it ran like garbage (fairly expected), so I put it down to 1280x1024 with all high settings, vsync (tearing was getting annoying), and advanced PhysX effects and it ran pretty well (40-50+ fps) moving around but it seemed that every so often (I imagine when a PhysX effect was kicking in) it would stutter and drop to the teen or single digit fps. Same with when a monster would pop out.. so I dumbed everything down to medium and it played pretty well, still though with the occasionally dip into the low 20's. Really not impressed with that performance considering the game doesn't look nearly as good as something like Crysis. Also, my graphics drivers managed to crash a few times.. maybe 3-4 which is rather annoying .. bam, black screen.. wait for vista to reload them while the game is going on.. alt tab out and alt tab back in.. oh, ok, there's the game. That might just be the new beta drivers though.

I might pop in my 8800GT as a dedicated PhysX card later and see what that does .. for giggles.

Just DL'd and ran the Cryostasis Tech Demo a few times:

All run with DX 10 / Hardware Physics. Motion and Cam Blur On. Water Caustic On.

1280x1024 - 8x Ani
Time: 194s
Ave FPS: 51
Min FPS: 24
Max FPS: 106

1280x1024 - 16x Ani
Time: 194s
Ave FPS: 51
Min FPS: 25
Max FPS: 106

1920x1200 - 16x Ani
Time: 194s
Ave FPS: 38
Min FPS: 24
Max FPS: 89

Well. I can say that the tech demo runs better than the actual game (surprise?) but I really didn't notice much, if any difference, in the looks of the three demos I ran. So who knows.

When I first installed it, everything was turned on, resolution @ 1280x1024. Hardware physics, Enhanced physics, everything. I was even getting good framerates, till I went outside.

I set textures to medium, turned off all the physics and set it to 1024x768 and am getting great FPS.

I'm surprised that you can even check the "Hardware physics" box with an ATI card.

Im running a C2D@2.8, 2gb DDR2800, HD3870 512.
