i bit for 3.24, the newer nvidia have built in physix, so no worries there :)
what do you mean by built in physx? and you wont be running advanced physx effects with your gtx260 anyway unless you want a slideshow at times.

Readers chose Dragon Age, and from my play-time so far with it (played maybe 3 hours and have gotten far too bored to continue right now), it seems like an incredibly boring story.

This. I played DA:O for not even that long and it nearly put me to sleep. Personally, I think the Western medievil RPG thing needs to be put to bed or re-thought from scratch into something fresh?
And why can't we get more RPGs like Earthbound/Mother 2 or Mother 3 with a story that sucks you in and/or is quirky and funny or is totally heart-rendingly emotional and genuine?

Back on topic, I thought Cryostasis is good but not great, technical issues aside (like very low performance for the on-screen detail you see, only single threaded, etc.).

your card doesnt have a "physx gpu". lol. your card is just a regular gtx260 thats capable of running physx like any other gtx260. and Batman doesnt have the depth of effects seen in Cryostasis.

you dont have to run physx too play the game..

what? please be more clear in what you are trying to say.

i made a statement about how i bought it for 3.24 and said that the gtx260 has physx, someone corrected me, so i said that i dont need physx hardware to run the game or play the game. thats what i mean. i didnt think it was a complicated statement

you have made very little sense from the beginning. you said some Nvidia cards have built in physx gpu and then linked to a regular gtx260 which doesnt make sense. anyway I think you are only going to make things more confusing so dont worry about it. lol

for Cryostasis you should run SM 3.0, motion blur off, shadows medium, hardware physx on, advanced physx effects off, and AA off. that should run pretty smooth because it does for me at 1920x1080 with those settings. you will still get some slowdowns but nothing bad.

how do i get rid of the stupid 'physx==>cpu' logo? oh and the mouse control seems too drifty/floaty I'll push, but I am not used to this style

Not sure what you mean by the logo. As for the mouse control being floaty, I remember that also but it wasn't really much of an issue.

Remember that your in a subzero arctic climate, and your character is not a soldier, but a meterologist. So I thought the slow handling and reloading of the guns was appropriate.

Also, I was looking through the concept art for the game and found this enemy who never made it in the game.

Fits pretty well with the symbolic themes of the game. Would have been interesting to fight against.

Actually Im starting to think its lag. I have a 6000+ 4gigs of ram and a 512meg 8800gt. Maybe i have to turn down my res....although i'm at 1280x1024 already....

Either way i'm not impressed with the level of graphics relative to my system. my system is old, but HL2 looked better and ran MUCH faster and that was years earlier. could be a great game, but its lagville, then it doesn't matter

Guess I'll play it when I have a GTX 680 or something + a dedicated physx card. lol

Or you could just turn physx off and run it on your current card?

It's been stated already that the PhysX is not the attraction of this game. If you're playing this game to simply gawk at graphics, it's not for you. The PhysX effects aren't even that good.

The game runs like crap on ATI hardware when SM 4.0 is selected. The game still doesn't run very well @ 1920x1080, max settings, no physx on a GTX 275 (what I'll have soon) because it's a GPU hog and poorly optimized.

One statement saying physx isn't an attraction doesn't make it so. Nvidia would certainly disagree given the comparison video they made for the game.

Besides I'm in no rush; my backlog is huge.

Like I said earlier, it’s not PhysX that's the problem; I have both PhysX settings disabled, and it still runs like a sloth on both my GTX285 and GTX470.

The problem is caused by icy sheen on the walls, and no setting seems to improve things. The only thing that helps is melting the ice in-game.

Considering this game runs stellar for me with a 280GTX + 8800GT PhysX, I think this has to be something different..

Depends on what your definition of stellar is. Using max settings w/ what res?

Heh, "stellar"? Here's an identical kit to yours:

http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,...d-Physx-benchmarks-of-the-DX10-game/Practice/

At 1680x1050 they get an average of 33.3 FPS and a minimum of 16 FPS. In any frozen area that’ll slideshow, especially during combat.

The engine of this game is absolutely woeful. It doesn't scale how it should, and the massive performance hit is not justified by the lacking visuals it generates.

Hmm I was thinking about buying the game at the beginning of this thread, and after reading the whole thread I removed it from my shopping cart.
