Cryengine 3 lighting demo

Not too shabby. Global illumination looks like it gives about 60% of the fidelity of ray tracing. I wonder what kind of performance it will have on current systems in working titles though.

Crytek is the new John Carmack...

hm. Good point, except Carmack's games play on the current hardware.
I hope they implemented a failproof piracy solution, Crysis only sold 1m units which absolutely sucks...poor guys...everybody else pirated it.

They could pledge to remove the online verification (like, game saving maybe) in 2 years.

I actually bought two copies of the game. One when it was released, and the second during the Steam Holiday Sale, for god knows what reason. I also bought two copies of STALKER as well for some reason ...

Doom 3 ran like crap on current hardware (though probably not to the extent of Crysis) when it was released too, so the comparison isn't too far off.

Errr not really, I ran it fine on my 9700 PRO back when Radeons sucked at OpenGL, and the card was already 2 year old when Doom 3 got released

Also, cool vid

Last retail sales figures from 2008 put it at 1.5 million sold. Factor in 2 years plus Steam sales and you'll see it sold very well. It's in the best-selling pc games of all time.
