Cryengine 2 tech videos released

Ya that scene is amazing. Something I noticed about it too is that it may even seem a bit more realistic just in the viewing field. After I read the site one of the guys was talking about how that scene could be displaying some kind of parallax viewing to give things more depth and distance.

OK... that looked nice, the rock textures are great, and the water is incredible, but is it really any better than Oblivion overall? As the camera turned you could see the low foliage pop into high detail, even at that resolution, plus the variety of plants was not impressive and all the same shade of green. You could clearly see the polygons forming the leaves on the trees, and the shadows they cast were good, but no better than Oblivion.

Picky I know, but after this I was looking for 'wow' from this game, and that wasn't 'wow'.

Well to be fair you're judging a screenie of character models vs. map scenery. Not really the same thing. And I think it is better than Oblivion as far as the denseness of the jungle and of course how it reacts to your guns and just movement. And of course, the water in Oblivion looked really bad IMO. Oblivion still is increadible for how it looks and it was pretty far ahead of it's time, so I don't think you'll see anything REALLY radically different from that. A bit better graphics with better physics is my guess.
