Cruz drops out, Trump 2016 GOP Nominee

Ted Cruz suspends presidential campaign after loss in Indiana

Ted Cruz bowed out of the Republican presidential race Tuesday following a crushing loss to Donald Trump in Indiana, clearing the path for the real estate mogul to clinch the GOP nomination.
It was a remarkable turn of events in a presidential primary race that seemed destined -- just weeks ago -- to end in a contested convention this summer.

Even in the final hours of the race in the Hoosier State, Cruz insisted he was staying in the race until June 7 -- going so far as to attack his rival during a news conference as a "pathological liar" unfit for the White House.

"We left it all on the field in Indiana. We gave it everything we've got but the voters chose another path," Cruz said. "So with a heavy heart but with boundless optimism for the long-term future of our nation, we are suspending our campaign."

Update 9pm

Good riddance.

Unfortunately those dopes in TX will re elect him.

Trump is what they deserve after Bush.

Trump over Ted for sure. Trump is ignorant. Ted has a vile agenda and is well educated on his path to achieving it.

I am not so sure about Cruz's political future. It is instructive how John Boehner went after him as Cruz's failure became beyond reasonable doubt. ("Lucifer in the flesh") Those who were restrained against Cruz just in case he becomes the nominee have nothing to fear any more. Cruz might disappear from the national politics in short order.

He'll probably re-surface as a SCOTUS appointment by President Trump.

For all the times I read here that Trump would amount to nothing, nice big plate of crow on the way, bon appetit!

Sadly I don't think this is the last we'll see of him. Texas will keep electing him, and there are plenty of Tea Partiers/Evangelicals to throw money at him for another presidential run. If there aren't 5 other nutjobs like Huckabee and Santorum in the next race, he may be able to consolidate a 'respectable' base on the right.

Wow, Trump alleged that Cruz's father - Rafael Cruz, is associated Kennedy's assassination event.

This is ludicrous. And this guy will be Republican party's nominee?
