I'm guessing they were never "Free", just built into the price. In order to compete (and thus lower prices...or increase income) they had to sacrifice something
Good question. I didn't know they started doing this. I bought my last stereo from cardomain.com
excellent price and service.
Crutchfield wasn't bad but they had the wrong speaker sizes for my car so I had to go through the hassle of a return/exchange.
yeah, Crutchfield is usually more expensive, but for the stereo I'm looking at it was the same price, so I figured I'd get free ship and free harness, then found out no free harness.
