Anyone elver use this service? They charge about $50 per pair of speakers to install at a local shop that has a 'Mobile Electronics Certified Professional.' I live in the Boston area and not wanting to install system by myself. Is this service good/ok?

Crutchfield is a decent company so they probably contract with reputable shops...but of course it would vary by area so YMMV...personally I install all my own equipment

Visit the shop. See if they are working on anything that they'll let you look at. Look up a review. Call Crutchfield themselves to see what's up.

I didn't even know Crutchfield offered such a service.

The service is really going to depend on the installer. They could assign you someone good... or bad. have you not checked around at local dealers who do the installs? They might cut you a better deal if you buy from them.

I got it before a couple years ago for my father's car. They did a good job, it was a local shop that did it that I found using Crutchfield's locator.
