Well, one thing right off the bat might I suggest that you don't embark from New Jersey.

Your first few days and last few days will be spent at sea with no ports of call.

I always like leaving from Puerto Rico that way you're already in the Caribbean and don't have to spent so much time at sea. Believe me you'll still have plenty of time to look for dolphins, stare at sunsets at sea, gamble in the casino, and eat.

I think it will be nice to have the first few days to get our bearings on the ship and explore a bit. Also once we return and are exhausted, we'll be home in about an hour rather than having to get on a plane.

I find myself liking the at sea days more than the ports themselves. Excursions cost a lot of money. My last cruise, out of the 3 places we stopped, we only did 1 excursion, and a big part was because we just wanted to relax.

In fact, if you stay on the boat during a port, the ship is empty and you can pretty much do as you please...no people in the pool or hot tubs, just you. Very relaxing. But that is why cruises are so great, everyone can do their own thing.

If they do catch you they hold your luggage till you pick it up and just make you throw it away. So if you decide to do it, be prepared for the worst just in case. If that doesn't bother you, go ahead.

I snuck many a bottle on-board without doing anything clandestine, I also bought bottles right on the ship and carried it back to our stateroom. I know you're not supposed to do it, but our dresser looked like a well stocked bar and no one said anything.

Oy....

First off, a cruise is a GREAT way to spend a honeymoon. The beds are comfortable so don't worry. Sex on your verandah can be fun and romanitc under the stars ;)

I alway try to remind folks... a vacation is what you make it. People that bitch about cruises either have been on a crappy one, or will always find something to complain about.

You can do as much or as little as you want. There are always things going on, at sea or in port. Cooking demos, wine tastings, martini making classes, volleyball, rock climbing, bingo, casino, etc.
Or do nothing. Sit by the pool enjoying the warmth and each other.

Remember to appericate the staff and crew. They will do anything for you, but be thankful and understand that they are working VERY hard and working NON STOP, so give them a break.

Don't tip with $2 bills, don't give "things" as gifts. They want money. That is it.

Booze is not free, the only ships that have free drinks are HIGH end lines like Regent, Crystal, etc. RCCL does not. Look for drink of the day specials.

A tip that I use all the time... request a certain type of table at dinner. I think RCCL still has set dining so you should be able to choose your dining time and one set table. I always ask for a table for two when it is just the two of us traveling. That way, we don't have to worry who we get "stuck" with as table mates.
You can have your travel agent make this request for you.

In regards to your cabin, since you are on your honeymoon, consider getting a suite or a jr. suite. Some people think it is a waste of money, but i strong disagree. We cannot cruise in anything less than a suite now. Don't think that you won't spend time in the cabin. A large verandah is nice as well. Another tip.... order dinner in your cabin one night and eat on your verandah. this is especially nice if you are in port late one night. It is very romantic and memorable to do.

We are lovers of cruises and enjoy the whole expereince. Please feel free to ask any specific questions. I promise I will give you real, honest answers.

Don't be cheap and try to sneak booze on board either. It is not worth the risk of having it thrown away, broken in your clothes, etc.

PS, take a peek at our photos... I think we have the past... uhm... 3 maybe 4 cruises on there still. :)

I've been on three cruises on three different cruise lines/ We did ROyal Carribbean 7 years ago or so in the Caribbean and it was good. I don't remember a whole lot about it though.

If you don't mind spending the money, take advantage of the excursions that the cruise ship offers. THey can be expensive but they take care of everything for you. Or you can find things to do on your own if you get info beforehand on each place you'll be going.

The main thing I always say is get a cheap room. The only time you're in your room is to sleep so I never care if I have a window, balcony, etc as you're never there.

If you're a soda drinker, take advantage of the special cup you can buy and then get free refills for the rest of the cruise. far far far cheaper than getting soda with your meals.
