Yeah the only cruise I've been on was during November, which is storm season in the Caribbean. We easily had 10-20ft swells, and the definitely made that big ol' boat move. It rolled from side to side a bit, not enough to cause you to lose balance at any moment, but enough that if you stood still, at times you'd definitely know you were floating on water.

Funny - that reminds me of a friend of mine who used to walk aft and match the ship movement via a handheld gps. He actually had the GPS speed at zilch and kept his eyes on its display too long and walked into a pole. He didn't do it any more after that.

Been on the Liberty of the Seas, Majesty of the Seas, and next week I'll be on the Independence of Seas. Truly awesome ships. I plan on going on the Oasis of the Seas when she comes to America and starts sailing. Each time, I am amazed by the size of them. Once you start cruising, you are hooked.

LOL that is hilarious. Could have been worse though, he could of walked off the back of the ship lmao.

I've never been on a true cruise ship but they definably look pretty big. I did go on this school trip back in grade 8 and there was a mini cruise on a river/canal. Was interesting. I walked into the boiler room by error they were like "wtf are you doing here kid? go back up!". Was curious, what can I say.

Yeah, they are massive. I went on a Princess cruise to Alaska a year and a half ago and it felt like it was a floating resort. Bars, night clubs, casino, restaurants, arcades, pools, movie theaters, etc. They had it all.

So, how long does one take to complete from start to finish?

Talk about a engineering feat......

From keel laying ceremonies to sea trials about three years.

That must be one interesting job. So much involved in a ship, probably way more then a plane, which is quite impressive as well. All the electrical, plumbing, making sure the overall design is balanced and aerodynamic in the water and probably tons of other important things I'm not even aware of.

You're only infringing upon the tip of the iceberg there! ;)
