TOM CRUISE:

No, you see. Here's the problem. You don't know the history of psychiatry. I do.//

MATT LAUER:
//aren't there examples, and might not Brooke Shields be an example, of someone who benefited from one of those drugs?

TOM CRUISE:
all it does is mask the problem, Matt. And if you understand the history of it, it masks the problem. That's what it does. That's all it does. You're not getting to the reason why. There is no such thing as a chemical imbalance.

 This is the most fvcked up, and brilliant, thing about scientology. They brainwash you, then tell you that psychiatry is a pseudo-science that brainwashes people, making it much harder for a counselor to get through to you.

Dude, it's a Spielberg picture. That dude hasn't had a flop since the 70's.

What was that crappy boy robot movie with the kid from the Sixth Sense? Yeah, I can't remember either.

 you got me. AI...

dude, any "religion" based on the ramblings of a former sci-fi pulp fiction writer is uber-fvcked up...

to my knowledge, there is only one so far. Am I wrong? So how can you say that. You don't know. Are you all mighty yourself?

 youre post maid know cents.

of course there is only one so far. the use of "any" in that context is an expression. but if there were another religion based on the ramblings of a former sci-fi writer i would probably crap on it just the same.

yes i am all mighty, and i shalt smite thee.

Hey man...thats just...your opinion man...

Scientology has many critics that view it as a cult. The 'church' has used threats and coersion to further its causes, including threatening and intimidating the IRS agents who were evaluating whether or not Scientology was indeed a church.

A little Google searching will turn up lots of good information if you care to look.

They are the only "religion" to copyright a logo and their scriptures. Insane. You would think Tom Cruise would be bright enough when you have to pay millions of dollars to exorcise alien spirits from your soul, something's f'd up.

he made a couple of valid points about how eager doctors are to get people, especially kids onto anti-depressant drugs, without understanding teh long term affects.

Having said that, Cruise came across as very pompous, arrogant and patronizing.

Scientology doesn't scare me, yet... Until they start blowing up buildings, I don't care. I read the transcript of the conversation on drudge, and he is definetly a bit out there. I really don't care as long as he keeps putting out decent movies.
Let us know when he starts to.

You've lost that loving feeling...

What's your view on the US military?

I can't really disagree with him when it comes to the use of drugs for people. I don't like that either.

Apparently he tried to convert Scarlett Johansson before he hooked up with holmes. He needed a scientology budy, not a wife. Text

OMG, I just read that transcript, and the irony of someone that effed up in the head and/or on drugs saying that psychiatry is a pseudo-science and drugs are bad is astonishing...

my favorite part:

MATT LAUER:

So, postpartum depression to you is--

TOM CRUISE:

Matt--

MATT LAUER:

--kind of a--

TOM CRUISE:

--don't--

MATT LAUER:

--little psychological g00k--

TOM CRUISE:

That--

MATT LAUER:

--g00gley-g00k?

TOM CRUISE:

--no. No. I did not say that.

MATT LAUER:

I'm just asking what you-- what would you call it?

TOM CRUISE:

No. No. Abs-- Matt, that is-- the-- post-- now-- now, you're talking about two different things.

MATT LAUER:

But that's what she went on the--

TOM CRUISE:

No. MATT LAUER:

--antidepressant for.

Yeah, Scientoligists are cultish, true. Of course, Christianity itself a nothing more than a cult of Death Worshipers, so what's the diff? Granted, you'd have to be downright stupid to take anything L. Ron Hubbard says seriously, but then, people pay attention to Paul, who does nothing but distort Jesus' teachings. Whatcha gonna do?

heh... i hate the today show and avoid it. However, i had the car in for service today, and I saw this interview in the waiting room. I already knew he was screwed up from scientology, but it seems to have gotten worse. Sad, I assume Katie Holmes is next to be brainwased, sad.

Just saw the interview from this link Video

Alot of wild claims, but zero justification. Just that he "did the research". Not a valid argument...

When you say cult, you are already stating you know your 'religion' is correct.

Also all religions have extremely wild claims without justification or proof, that's the faith part.

I say let them all be until they cause a significant problem for a significant 'someone else'.

Also Cruise is not the Avatar of Scientology....Travolta is one, and I sort of like that guy...he is not fanatical and to those I listen (not buying the scientology deal, but he's a cool guy to me).
