These 2 movies are coming out on the same weekend. I'm trying to figure out which one is likely to have the larger box office. Please vote for which one you believe will bring in more $$ on opening weekend. Thanks!

Um... why? Is this a weird hobby you have?
I've heard of Cruella and seen ads for it, I haven't even heard of the first Quiet Place, let alone a sequel, so I would guess not that one.

quiet place looked pretty sweet, i never saw it except for the trailers

has jim from the office in it

some kind of zombie movie (or maybe aliens) where humans have to live in almost complete silence. make noise = get slaughtered.

I thought Quiet Place was good, kind of weird seeing it in theaters because it was so quiet throughout the movie.

Oh, maybe I did see some ads for that, I remember seeing commercials for Jim walking towards a car or something while I was waiting for "skip ad" to be enabled.

This whole place is one big "weird hobby" lol. 😛

I'll go with A Quiet Place 2 cause I don't know wtf Cruella is.
I read a review that said QP2 was the same pitfall all movies shows have....they have to try to top the first one...so they bring in more characters, bigger scarier scenes, and ultimately fumble the ball.

Since I actually went to a theater a couple weeks ago, I saw a preview for Cruella. It seems utterly bizarre and batshit crazy... plus Emma Stone, so I'm actually interested in it.
Yeah, I've known this was coming for a while, not interested until I saw the preview last week. Could be interesting. At least it's a fresh take, not a scene for scene copy like many of the Disney live actions.

It looks like a pretty bad movie to me, the scenes in the preview with her getting attacked by dalmatians seems like some weird attempt to retcon her character. Emma Stone looks great as Cruella tho, I'd watch it for free sometime based on that.

It's more like Malificent I thought, a prequel to show how the character came to be or something.

Yes, as a movie buff, I've always been interested in how movies do in the theaters. I check out boxofficemojo fairly often to see which movies did well, and which didn't, which became the biggest hits of the year, etc. (this often determines if a second 'chapter' is warranted) The movies with better acting and better plot don't always come out on top, which I find fascinating.

Considering that the pandemic has led to lower box office takes overall, I found myself wondering why two big movies like this would choose the exact same weekend for release. Why not a week or two apart, so each has less competition, and a greater chance for success?
