Just want everyone's opinion or stated facts between the two brands of ram .

I know most use Crucial because you can find it everywhere & it's rather cheap but why is Mushkin ram so much more ?
(Mushkin is what I currently use "pc133" rev. 1.5 in my current rig)

Crucial pc2100
1x 256mb = $53.

Mushkin
1x 256mb Basic = $58.
1x 256mb Special = $63.
1x 256mb High Perf. = $98.

Is it worth paying almost twice as much for the High Performance Mushkin than the basic Crucial at $53. ?

Just want everyone's view ....................... Thanks :)

Its who you ask really. I would prefer crucial for no other reason then it never let me down, I haven't tried mushkin. I have used crucial/micron a lot, their ram is great and you would not be dissapointed, but I do not believe you would be dissapointed with mushkin either. I don't feal that the extra money would bring more of a perfomance boast though. They both are worth the cost, with praise usually coming 95% of the time if not more.

The high perfomance is better stability at higher fsb, but I have heard of a lot of people having great stability with crucials ram at high speed too. And in most everyday use I would have to say no, twice the price is not worth it.

Looking at more of a "Quality" standpoint .

Why does the High Performance Mushkin $98. cost almost twice as much as the $53. Crucial ???

Is it more for overclockability ?

It's hard to say really, It is meant to be able to "overclock" as in change the fsb, cas latency and such. The other ram is not.
It is kinda like cpus they take a batch label them what they can do speed A and then some people get them to speed B. While the company also has B on the market as well for more.

It cost so much because it is somewhat insured that it will be able to handle the speeds and more reliable, while the others may or may not do what you want. In a lot of cases crucial pc2100 performs better or as well as some of the pc2400 out there, but it is not for sure that it will. So if you want great ram that cost high but is almost defiantly going to do the trick then get the high cost ram. But a lot of people are getting the cheaper ram and getting it to 140 mhz at cas 2, not saying you will. It is assurance to buy the more expensive one, but in this case all of it should be perfectly stable.

Oh yeah and you get heat spreaders on that nice 98 dollar ram.
