Crucial RealSSD C300 $99 on Newegg this morning

While I have installed a number of Intel G2 drives...and I own 3 of them...I bought one of these too for testing purposes.

The user reviews convinced me...along with the pricepoint...

Tons of users complaining about it stuttering with the latest firmware update. They all seem to be using Intel X58 boards with old chipset drivers though. I ordered it anyway though, lots of good reviews on newegg. You would think there would be much more complaining if it was as flawed as people make it out to be.

I own the 128GB version. And have seen no stuttering at all using the latest firmware 006 from crucial...

Changelog:

Improved power management
Improved power-up behavior after uncontrolled power-down
Improved full drive and corner-case performance
Improved TRIM behavior

I have the 256GB version of this drive, never had any probelms even w/ the firmware update to 006. Although I've alwasy had the lastest Intel RST drivers.

Nice the 256GB is one of the fastest versions of this SSD! To bad big SSDs are not cheap yet! I can't wait until 500 GB and 1 TB SSDs!

How full is it ?

But this 64gb has the same read speed as the 256. Since read is more important than write, this is still a very fast drive. In fact, most benchmarks i've seen show it faster than the 256 in pure sequential reads. Also, while sequential writes max out at a pretty low speed, the random writes are comparable to other ssds, so installing programs onto it shouldn't be too bad.

I will probably buy a 120GB SF2000 if I can find one for under $150. Then I will use the sandforce as my boot drive and the c300 as a Steam drive.

Good plan!

I've got about 100GB of data on it atm. Still performs great and is one of the best purchases I've made for my PC in years.

Anyone else get theirs in yet?

So far I am a little underwhelmed, particularly since i have to often wait for my spindle drives to wake back up before I can access files and programs on them. Even office, installed on the SSD, wil pause a bit. I am also wondering whether this is caused by the stuttering bug people are talking about, though I'm pretty sure it is just my hard drives.
