Hmmm, was 96 and now 69 - could be the person was dyslexic or simply had a good night. I doubt PC2100 would drop really fast while the rest remained the same. HOWEVER - you can never tell in the internet world, perhaps Crucial simply has way too much of PC2100 and it's not selling well enough. I wouldn't pass this one up if you need the ram.

P.S. Knew I should have purchased more of the Dell ($64/1GB PC133 and $25 BestBuy Ram) sigh

Just got one for $69.34, maybe I should clear out my 128M on ebay.

<< goto FW and search for crucial.. they have a 15% regular price..

brings the 256MB pc2100 down to $65.44
>>

Sorry for the stupid question 😀 But can you tell what FW means? 🙂

Thanx

At first I assumed it was a price mistake, but it's still at $69 10 hrs. later. Pricewatch has 6 pages of resellers with PC2100 under $69 incuding some Samsung, Kingston, Nanya, Micron, and Kingmax so someone somewhere must have found a new vein of 256mb in the PC2100 mine.

WOW! I'm glad I bought when I did (last year). I paid $29 shippped a stick for 256MB PC2100 DDR Crucial (3 sticks)! Wish I had bought more than 3. 😀

FW=Fat Wallet.com..they have a very good hot deals forum as well

I am amazed ram prices are still so high..seems every winter they go up and by summer they are dropping like a lead weight in water....I was real lucky to get in on the BB deal for PC2100 DDR for $25 after rebate....should have picked upi more than 2 sticks

<< I would wait at least another week or 2. That and use fat wallets promo code for a extra 15% off >>

I think I'm gonna hold off also. I could use a couple of sticks, but I can also do without them for a little longer. I may wait for pc2700 sticks to get down a bit and buy a 512MB stick.

As far as your sig....that many people can and are wrong every single day. I'm just glad the people who were right won!

I jumped on it, I couldn't resist, esp with 15% off.

Now I can run my nForce board at full bore, with 2 sticks.

Laterz,

Ahab

i think i am also gonna wait that till that 512 stick goes down ...to under 90 bucks or so..(could be awhile)
Desktop Sales are slowing again.....according to the news ....
So that should mean that there is gonna be more ram available and therfore cheaper RAM!

Should bottom out in Mid - August

Just a hunch. Not a scientific guesss

Well, looks like pricewatch IS dropping a bit for the 256 meg sticks of 2100, lowest yesterday when I last checked was like $49 (generic) now its like $10 cheaper for generic. I dunno, I'm still not convinced its not a price mistake, but I'm beginning to lean the other way. If it holds up after monday, I'll be convinced. Maybe they want to move out 2100 for 2300 or something? That is kinda silly since the majority sold is still 2100... who knows.

yeah, I think that I"ll wait for this to come down more 😉 wheeeeeeeeeee! I'm just glad that this high price fever finally broke!

Wasn't there some legal reason for the price jump in the first place? Didn't some big memory company sue some other big memory company? Did that get resolved? Is that what's giving us lower prices? Or is this just a temporary lul? Why do I ask so many questions?

Yes, don't forget to go to FatWallet and visit their forums for 15% off link that will bring it down to $65.44. And then don't forget to go to Ebates to get another 4% off making the total $62.82. Not bad including 2-day shipping!

No... actually you should be asking why the prices were so low last year. They were actually below the cost that the memory manufactures pay for the materials and manufacturing, which is a bad thing. It was a whole string of things, like a lot of companies had overstock because of the slump in the economy, companies were waiting to buy until that was over. Also, memory manufactures didn't want to run low because a couple years ago when that happened and drove prices sky high because of the earthquake that took out a significatn portion of the worlds memory manufacturing capabilities, they didn't want the supply to get so low again (there were other reasons for that as well) Those are a few of the reasons. Then when the prices were low, and memory makers were running out of money, several of them either closed up shop to wait until the prices went back up again, or reduced the rate at which they were making them. Some of the huge memory companies also merged to avoid bankruptcy. So, that and other things led back around eventually to a reduction in supply and then the prices went back up to something more "normal." I expect prices to fall somewhat in the coming year, but I highly doubt it will get to as low as it was for quite a while.
