Crucial prices dropping fast!..especially pc2100! $69.29!!! 256 meg stick!

this just sent shockwaves thru my company...now we can afford a pizza party for IT dept.
I noticed newegg was $77 for ddr 2100 for a week while crucial remained at $96...'bout freakin time.

Finally Ram is getting more affordable.
Now the only question is, Crucial 2100DDR 512MB for $170 or Mushkin 2700DDR 512MB for $179 (+Free Shipping)?

$65.44 for me...ordered 2 sticks...thought what the heck I might as well upgrade the Dell 4400 deal with 128MB Ram

Woot! although I paid about $65 for 512 sticks, 256 is still much better than it was!

Is it better getting 2 256MB or just 1 512MB DDR RAM? I heard 1 stick is better then 2 because it might cause problem??

Its not that 2 sticks will cause problems, using only 1 stick of 512MB leaves another slot free. Also if you plan to overclock, it is "easier" while using 1 stick because the chips will be all the same.

So, the real question is.............why isn't he ECC pc2100 ram dropping too? It used to be at the most $10 bucks more, but it is still around $100 right now.

"Used" to be.... 😀

Ram used to be really really cheap before it was really really expensive. 🙂

Edit: I messed up, should be really really expensive before it was really really cheap. 😛

Considering that all the other memory is more in line with the previous prices, (i.e. 512 is still ~$200, 128 is still ~$50, other versions of 256 are still ~$100 and up), and the SDRAM is still up there, and pricewatch prices haven't really changed, and that I checked the price earlier today and it was still up at $90+, I would guess this might be a price mistake. I would say this is a good time to order a 256 meg stick 🙂 Memory prices are not going to go down to what they were last year for quite a long while, memory manufactures were selling them at a LOSS. Belive me, they will do just about everything they can to avoid that condition again 🙂 $40 per 256 I can see happening in year or sometime at the end of the year, but $25 probably not, at leasts that's my gut feeling 🙂

Now I could be wrong, or perhaps crucial for some reason has an overstock of 256 (I can't imagine them doing it even if they did, since they are still quite popular), or whatever, but if I was in the market for some good memory I'd probably take advantage of this. Even if it is a price mistake, I imagine crucial would honor it.

Actually both, it used to be really expensive, then really cheap, then really expensive again 🙂

ARG!

I bought that same thing for 90 some odd dollars an hour before the price changed! I wrote them an email asking for the difference refunded...Anybody know if they're cool about that? this is my first purchase from crucial

Crucial doesn't have price match policy. Since it hasn't been shipped yet, CANCEL it immediately. Then reorder (and I suggest ordering fast, since I think this is a price mistake personally), in fact if it were me, I'd place another order right away, then start on canceling the other order. Tomorrow is sunday and you aren't going to be reaching crucial anytime soon, although I would think you'd be able to cancel the first one before it shipped.

You might be right about the price mistake. The numbers just dont match. 45 dollars is a bit high for a 128mb stick when 256mb is 70. Usually 128mb is a little bit closer to half the cost of 256mb. Not to mention PC133 SDRAM stayed at the same prices but DDR dropped 20 bucks? Just a bit strange, but who knows. I sure hope thats the right price 😀

Can't wait till It's $25 a 256MB stick again!!! (thank you Best Buy and FS/FT forum!! )

Glad I dumped my 2 sticks of Crucial PC2100 at Egay last week which I got at BB for $25.

Okie dokie, I'll buy the cheaper, and just cancel the older order. This sounds like a price mistake, so i better take advantage before they catch themselves...
