Inguyen: "so damn tempting.. aaaahhhH!!!! i have no money to spend on computer crap!!!! I need a job... "

thats what credit cards are for my friend! hehe. I'm gonna order mine tomorrow. My billing cycle ends today, so if I purchase it tomorrow I'll have an extra month to come up with the loot! hehe god bless American Express.

btw- I ordered this exact stick of RAM about a month ago for $209 (plus tax, free shipping), so to me this is a hot deal!

Thanks!

Move savings

Remember if you go through ebates.com you may be able to get another 5% off of your memory order at Crucial. Buy.com yields 3%.

CAS 2-2-2 does make a bit of a difference. All else being equal, with 256MB of RAM (Mushkin PC133 single module, would only run 3-3-3 at 133 for me) my system did about 180 frames in quake3 (640x480, turned everything off to get max frames). Switching to Kingston ValueRAM 256MB PC100 (that Buy.com DOTD in November) I could do 133MHz CAS 2-2-2, and my frame rate jumped about 11 to 191.

what is the difference between Crucial ram and Micron Ram? I have 2 Micron Sdram pc100 mt-48lc8m8a2 128mb, and would like to get some more, is there a Crucial Ram equivalent?
and, most importantly, what is CAS2 and CAS3? I have a 133mgz capable board with a p3, but want to junk it and get an athlon- is this ram and my old ram compatible with new athlon boards? - thanks

Any difference between say 2-128mb sticks of PC133 7ns Mosel and 1-256mb stick of PC133 7.5ns Crucial? Can get them for about the same price. Will performance be similar @ 222?

Strych9 FYI

I found an article that said you had higher stability and that a single stick was just a little quicker then the two stick equivalent. It suggested that the higher voltage of two versus one plus the shorter tracings when dealing with just one stick as the factor. Anybody else seen anything along these line?

I can't find the article but here is something from an Abit info page that seems to support it. Look under the memory options.

I will keep trying to find the article.

memory link with speed comparison

The table is about 3/4 of the way down under Memory FAQ

i bought 256mb of 133 ca2 ram for 161 on the 15th
and on the 15th the price dropped to current levels
at 134...i was not happy so i emailed and got the
standard 'memory is a commodity, prices change,
tough luck' email....called customer service, explained
i was a long time customer (true) explained my
desire to get the new price...and told it is a
commodity...i told the CSR i am not satisfied and
would like an RMA...she started to work on getting
the number...i explained it was too bad that I had
to go through this route as it was obviously cheaper
to just credit my account...she agreed, called the
supervisor...adjusted my account 20$ (would have spent
$5 sending it back) now everyone is happy and I am telling
my friends what great customer service they have...

also... once before they replaced some memory for me
at double the size because they didn't have he size i
originally ordered...

GREAT MEMORY! GREAT PRICE! GREAT COMPANY!
