Hi guys I have a deal on 1gb of Crucial PC2700 DDR ram, but I was wondering how well it overclocked. Has anyone had first hand experience with it, or else read anything about speeds? I want to run a Gigabyte GA-7n400 w/ a Barton 2500+ and this ram (2 512 sticks) and I want to get at least 195. Does that sound reasonable or should I opt for PC3200 ram instead? I am going to have an Antec TruePower 430 Watt for my power supply, so I don't think that constant voltage should be an issue, just the ram itself. Please Help! Thanks in advance.

Obviously I am not going for the super-maximum overclock here. I'm not stupid, obviously pc3200 would be better for that. But when you can get 1 gb of pc2700 ram for 140 bucks, you don't care about that. Is it possible to run this ram between 195-200ish on an Nforce2 400 Ultra motherboard?

p.s. Sorry for the confusion nick

I'm sorry, am I reading something wrong? I am overclocked to 290mhz with Crucial PC2700 DDR. I don't understand why you would want to run this RAM at 195-200mhz. I probably am not reading something right so don't mind me.

how are you running at 290mhz with crucial pc2700?? sounds like you are at 145mhz. 145 quad-pumped = 580mhzbus. the ram may be operating at ddr 290 but it's not at 290mhz i believe.

and to the other guy no I don't think you are gonna be getting anywhere near 195-200ish with 2700. That's what pc3200 is for.

My Motherboard supports PC2100 which is 266mhz data rate to which I have it overclocked to 290 mhz data rate. Now you're saying that 290 is not mhz which I think is a right and a wrong statement. To my understanding my RAMs core clock is 167(mhz) by itself which it is also DDR Ram so that means when it is run with two sticks the data rate is doubled up to 333(mhz), hence the term 333(mhz) Double Data Rate! Yes, my FSB is at 145 which is where I get the 290(mhz) DDR. I think he said he was going to use two sticks of 512mb which gave me the impression that he was going to take advantage of the DDR.
Like I said, I misread it to begin with so that's why I was confused. I do have to stick with my original statement though of my RAM being run at 290 (mhz).

I have 2 x 256MB Crucial PC2700 sticks and they'll run upwards of 198MHz at CAS2.5 with 2.8V, but I wouldn't call that 100% stable. Backing off to 194-195 keeps things running smoothly.

How did you manage that?

Last time I tried cas3 on my pc2700 crucial stick it resulted in a NO boot system & I had to clear the cmos to get it to boot.

I have 2gig of crucial pc2700 in my p4p800 delux.
If i set the timing to 3-4-4-8 it will hit 203mhz with the voltage raised up. I forget the setting 1.7v ?
I runs torture tests fine. but sometimes I get random reboots when not working the system hard at all.
kinda weird huh!

I should think so. My crucial pc2100 is running at 172mhz, can't go any higher cause of my inf pc2700 is stopping me.
I tested both separately and my crucial pc2100 booted at 178, but my inf. pc2700 maxed out at 172
And my friends samsung pc2700 hit 190, i'm damn sure you're crucial will hit near 200mhz.

What about Mushkin PC2700 Basic? I've got a pair of 512meg running in dual channel at 200mhz 2.5-3-3-7 Memtest for ten hours and no errors ;)

It may not be the memory!??

I reduced the memory to normal speed and still got a random reboot.

Blue screen says problem with scsi driver.

Maybe a bad ide raid controller?

any idea what this could be?

O sorry, it's not Crucial RAM. It's Centon (whoever that is, I got 512 sticks for $20 each on that Circuit City deal a couple months ago).

Running 4 of them in dual channel mode for 2 GB of RAM.
