Most of the people buying the PNY 256mb DDR pc2100 are getting pure Samsung (including me) which seems to be just as good, if not better, as Crucial. We might get lucky and BB will have one more sale with MIR before the prices get too high.

I don't think Crucial is going to come down any time soon cause the FEDs are after them.

From MANY years of computer building, two areas you NEVER skimp on and go a cheaper route, Memory and Power supply. If you value system stability and compatibilty then spend the extra dollars and get something better. While PNY memory may be fine for SOME motherboards, the overall most stable and usually one of the best in speed is Crucial. Save yourselfs many hours of problems and spend the extra money for this! BTW, the prices on the Crucial DDR WILL come down again. I can afford to wait since its for my second computer upgrade.

PNY is a reseller of other companies memory. You can even find crucial memory under their brand so just because it says PNY on the label does not mean it is not top quality memory. Even Crucial used Samsung chips for their 512MB DDR sticks before Crucial could manufacture the larger chips. If you search the hot deals forums and the AT technical forums you will find (pure) Samsung DDR memory highly praised. Base on what I have read lately the Samsung has even more potential for OC'ing if you're into that.

All that being said, Crucial just raised the price on the 256MB DDR PC2100. It is now $63.74 after the %15 discount on their website. Looks like they are raising their price on a daily basis now so the $49.99 with free shipping from BB is looking even better.

FEDS are after them? how so?

It's been reported in several media outlets lately that the FEDs are investigating Crucial, Samsung and other memory manufacturers for price fixing because of the rapidly dropping prices.

Oops. Looks like this deal is getting colder. BB just raised the price from $49.99 to $79.99. Ouch, told you memory prices are moving up daily.

it's better because it overclocks much higher stably. plus, Crucial RAMs have life-time warranty.

Yes its true that best Buy was selling some Crucial memory with Samsung chips on it although its not just the chips that make up the module. Buy from Crucial.com and make sure you get chips with the MT on it (Micron Tech). Everything that I said before still holds true and I stand by it. Good luck with your PNY memory, if it works good for you then you saved some money.
