Good deal! Let's hope prices keep dropping on SSDs.

If I hadn't spent the money on a Galaxy GTX460 from BestBuy a few days ago, I'd probably get this.

Right now I have some 30GB OCZ Agility drives. Knock on wood, but they haven't given me any trouble. Not nearly as fast as an M4 though. I'm still on SATA2.

That drive is about as good as it gets and its been around for a while now. Im betting were about to see its replacement lineup and hopefully some more price drops on these.

How would this drive compare to the two Intel 40gb x25-v's I currently have?

I'm assuming you're not RAIDing those x-25vs. You'll get a ton of breathing room in terms of space. For performance, writes will greatly improve. Those x25v top off at 40MB IIRC.

However, real world READ performance will feel the same. All the Intels, even generation 1 from 2008 have great low latency just like the Crucial. In fact if you don't regularly process and need to write more than 40MB of data per second 90% of the time you use your PC, you may not notice much difference over your ownership.

I bought - BTW there is a bug after 5200 hours of use the drive stops working after 1 hour but the firmware update coming around the 16th will resolve the issue. Thats 216 days if you run 24x7 you have to update the firmware. :)

It doesnt lose data and you can restart your computer but 1 hour later it will happen again until you update using the up and coming firmware.

All signs seem to point that these SSD prices will trend further down before stabilizing. Just a few months ago, prices stayed stagnant with no discounts. I refuse to buy another SSD until its around $100 for a 120gb late model drive.

We've been hovering around $1/gb (with rebates) for late model drives this month. The M4 is one of the faster SataIII drives though, so I doubt it will get down to that level (or below) any time soon, but here's hoping!

If you know people that order hardware from distributors, you'll be surprised. Demand is down and enterprise purchasing isn't artificially keeping prices high due to buying up all the stock like in the past.
