Hate to thread crap, but something not right with Buy.com.

When I tried to buy the Crucial M4 they are trying to "Give" me some
CA crapware and automatically sign you up for a lifetime subscription charged to your credit card.
Yeah you can opt out, but the I'm paranoid about offers you have to opt out.

Also Buy.com is charging sales tax.

Stick with amazon: better deal all around, no sales tax, Free shipping (with Amazon Prime)

IMO, Buy.com is not a legitimate vendor. Its deals are rarely posted on this forum. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some multi-level marketing going on there.

Amazon is the real deal.

I didn't realize the arbiters of legitimacy had shunned buy.com. Perhaps I am just thrice-blessed by the gods, but I purchase from them about as often as from newegg, and I have never had anything but a good experience. They don't charge sales tax in my state, and not everyone has Prime, so I was attempting to offer some options.

And, yes, DV, I just checked my cart and Amazon does appear to have sold out. I've edited the post to reflect this.

I've had a few bad experiences with them and have personally reported them to the BBB.

I used to buy from them all the time in the early 2000s, before I'd ever heard of Newegg. In my opinion, they went downhill fast in their attempt to compete.

I recall when Tiger Direct used to do this. Not sure if they still do I shun sites that do this.

do not get me started with tiger direct. as for buy dot com they are great if you use their ebay store. here is a link

No links to eBay

I've purchased from buy.com several times in the past, especially when they had a pay through amazon link. That link is no longer there and (as I said before) there is also some sort of shady add-on with CA. I also noted it is no longer "buy.com" but now "Rakuten group's" buy.com.

I will purchase from buy.com if there is a good deal AND the connection to CA products is removed.
