Just ordered two 256MB sticks at $90.94 ea.
The trick was using the promo link as given above with cookies turned on.

Thanks guys for the link and the cookie tip.

Earlier (with cookies off) I got the $96 quote, despite having used the promo link.

Didn't bother with the 5% erebate - as is, it is Sweet enough...
:D

Just got Ann to do a pricematch for a (1)256MB C2 order placed yesterday. Difference was only $22.50, but HEY I'm a cheapskate! Guys, be persistent but be polite when you call. LOL! TextText

I bought mine for $112.19 a week ago and just got a full credit of difference, using 'talk to an expert' link. It was a 3-minute task.

Looks like we can add another name to yodayoda's sh@t list, Tara. Gave me this crap about only 1 order can receive a price adjustment, even though I placed 2 orders within a few days. Funny how I mentioned both orders to them in my e-mail, but they price adjusted the order for 1 memory stick and not the order for 2 memory sticks. Looks like it will be RMA time for me, since it is within the 30 days, and I will just re-order from them. Doing the math, it will definitely be worthwhile $135.99-$90.94= $45.05x2= $90.10-$5 shipping back the memory=$85.10 savings to me. I would have been happy with less $, but she was such a pain that it is now a matter of principle. Any of you have the extensions for the people like Ann or others at Micron who have been helpful?

Bought 2x256/CL2...for $181.88.

What to do with my 2x128/CL2 (I just bought it 2 months ago for $86.69 a piece[$173.38 total]), can't use it all in my CUSL2......

This is crazy, I just bought 2x the amount of RAM and it only cost $8 dollars more, damn! Oh well.

I just did the "Talk to an Expert" thing. I bought my memory on Jan 25th for $108. They credited me back $15. It'll take a week to process but who cares. More $$$ for me :D

And I think I'll order another stick while I'm at it :D

To ECC or not ECC that is the question.

There is only about $5 difference between the price of PC133 256MB ECC vs
regular.

This will be the only stick in this system (I know, if you mix then it is
all non ECC)

Is there a real advantage to ECC?
Does the ECC come at a performace price?

Thanks

Prices just went down by just over $2.00 (at 1.30 p.m.) - like I said wait... just a little bit more
Oops I am wrong - it is still $96.29. Looked at PC100 by mistake. DDr1600 is the equivalent of PC100 so do not get that. Get the DDR2100 instead.

Lowcarb,

According to Crucial's website, the ECC RAM suffers a performance hit of around 2% over non-parity RAM.

Thanks Garet Jax

I've been reading the threads on the hardware forum.. Th concensus seem to be skip ECC save the money. but afew diehards say it might help (especially since it seems to me that memory is frequently teh limiting factor in OCing 133 FSB systems)

Since the price delta has fallen to $5 I think I'll go for it.

Regards, LC

Zakharov,
I asked the same questions of Crucial about my ABIT BX6-2 using the onlne chat function. As I thought the tech confrmed that I could use the CL=2 and even ECC versions.

Best of luck, Lowcarb

ThegoodDoc, I just used the 'ask an expert' link at crucial.com and the name that came up in the chat box was Ann, she asked me my sales order number and after the inital confusion of me having signed in with a nickname instead of the one my invoice, came back and said she would give me a {one time} credit for the $21.25 difference. Looks like a good trend starting here.

For any of you who may have bought some of this RAM last week from staples, don't forget to call them back for a price adjustment. Here's the message I just posted in that thread:

<< Just got off the phone with Staples, I was able to get them to pricematch to the current Crucial Web Promo price of $88.39 !!!!

They refunded $21.40 to my credit card. The only problem was that dropped me below $100, so I had to buy $12 worth of stuff to still apply the coupon...so I just picked up some legal pads I needed anyway.

The final price of the ram for me is: $62.38

Got the adjustment as well via the Expert Online Help feature.

I wonder if I can get another adjustment on the RAM I ordered 01/30, the CSR said they will issue only 1 price adjustment per customer.

I also got a big thumbs up to a price adjustment. I used the Ask the Expert and spoke with Ann. I'm going to order more now! I just don't learn.... Here is the transcript:

Ann> you also
Derrick> Perfect! Have a good Valentines day! :)
Ann> Ann Guttu
800-336-8896 ext 35574
Derrick> Can I get some sort of reference number or phone number and
extension?
Ann> I don't have any exact amount. i'm unable to get that information
right now. your welcome Derrick and have a nice day.
Derrick> Thanks Ann!!!
Ann> 7-10 business days
Derrick> and, what will the amount be?
Derrick> ok, when should it show up on my account... estimated time
Ann> Okay i will take care of this credit on my end.
Derrick> ok
xxx-xxx-xxxx<deleted for my protection>
Ann> your right on the price i still need a day time phone number.
Derrick> I figure $21.25 refund give or take some cents for tax
differences.
Derrick> ok!
Derrick> 112.19 + 8.41(tax) = 120.60
112.19 - 90.94(current price) = $21.25
Ann> just a minute.
Derrick> Order #xxxxx-xxxxxx<deleted for my protection>
Derrick> I'd then like to use this extra $$$ to buy some more, but I can
do that on my own.
Ann> I also need a day time phone number.
Ann> what is your order number?
Derrick> Ok, what info do you need?
Ann> Yes,
Derrick> Since my past order is within 30 days, if you could refund me the
difference in price now.
Derrick> I was wondering...
Ann> Hello Derrick. How can I help you?
